At the same time, the lathe worker is also the most tiring job, standing next to the lathe for eight hours every day, busy and busy.

A good mechanic should be proficient in mastering the machine tools in their hands, proficiently understanding various complex drawings, such as the three sided and six sided views of mechanical processing, and deeply understanding and comprehending the various structures, shapes, specifications, dimensions, and process requirements in the drawings. To process accessories according to the drawings, it is necessary to proficiently design and manufacture various fixtures and tools, and to sharpen one's own cutting tools. It is also necessary to master the theoretical knowledge of mechanics, which includes a large number of geometric trigonometric functions and other calculations, such as cone shaped parts, cylindrical parts with one end larger and one end smaller, and even exponential logarithmic calculations. It is also necessary to be familiar with the mechanical properties of various workpiece materials. A good lathe worker can use a lathe and corresponding fixtures to not only process various rotating workpieces, but also informal rotating workpieces such as hexagonal nuts, square shaped parts, multi head ribbed lathes, and calculate the ratio of lathe hanging wheels. It can be said that a good lathe worker is half an engineer, and in terms of hands-on ability, he is even stronger than an engineer.

Liu Xueshi is a rural resident born and raised in the 1980s. After graduating from high school, I walked into a factory and formed a deep bond with a mechanic. At the age of eighteen or nineteen, he entered the lathe machining workshop and became an apprentice lathe worker. The lathe has become something he must come into contact with every day. He recalled that when he first started working, he would stand every day for eight and a half hours. On the first and second day, I was so tired that I couldn't straighten my waist, and after two days, my whole body was in pain. As a lathe worker, he deeply understands the hardships and joys of workers. The hardships of lathe workers are hidden in their hearts. Every morning when they arrive at the workshop, they stand in front of the equipment. As soon as the equipment is turned on and the machine rings, the day's work begins. Amidst the noise, they forgot their words, forgot their exhaustion, and dared not show any signs of weariness. Keeping the word 'improve quality' in mind and making efficiency our mission, we work overtime and silently dedicate our passionate youth to production. In the busy work, Teacher Liu did not stop learning and constantly improved himself, gradually learning and accumulating the knowledge and skills required for lathe machining.

Faced with sturdy and heavy lathes, some people only see them as production tools and gradually lose interest and willpower in their work. However, Teacher Liu regarded them as friends and saw work as a pleasure, making the lathe warm and lively. With his increasingly accumulated theoretical knowledge and outstanding operational skills, he won the first prize in the second employee skills competition of the group, and his work ideas and achievements were highly recognized by the group leaders.
