Oil conductivity meter

Product Description:

Introduction: This series of anti-static testing products is developed under the guidance of the home standard drafter, suitable for testing the surface resistivity of oil tanks and the conductivity of various types of oil products, as well as the conductivity of liquid hydrocarbon products.

This instrument is used to measure the conductivity of light petroleum products such as gasoline, kerosene, diesel, etc. at gas stations, oil depots, petrochemical plant refueling sites or laboratories. For example, airport gas stations are used to monitor the presence of anti-static additives in aviation fuel, automobile gas stations are used to monitor the presence of detergents in gasoline, and petrochemical plants are used to monitor the cleanliness measurement of organic solvents or transformer oil in electricity.

This instrument is comparable to the 1152 digital conductivity meter from the American company EMCEE: it has a sturdy structure, sealing, stability, strong anti-static interference resistance, and is equipped with practical functions such as automatically taking and maintaining the initial conductivity value.

This instrument was jointly developed in 2004 based on the needs of our petrochemical industry, after being appraised by the Static Electricity Industry Committee of the Physical Society in 1986. It was developed by the hometown of the static electricity instrument used to measure and eliminate static electricity in our airport oil trucks and oil depots in the 1970s and 1990s, and the hometown that mainly drafted our 'Oil Conductivity Measurement Method' standard.

This instrument is based on the American standard ASTMD4308-89 "Determination of Conductivity of Aviation Fuel Containing Antistatic Additives" and the international standard ISO6297 "Determination of Conductivity of Oil Products"; According to the national standard: GB6950-2001 "Safe Static Conductivity of Light Oil Products"; According to the requirements of GB/T6539-1997 "Determination of Conductivity of Aviation Fuel and Distillate Fuel" and GB13348-1992 "Safety Regulations for Static Electricity of Liquid Petroleum Products". Suitable for on-site environments such as airports, oil depots in refineries, gas stations, and fuel laboratories.

  • Working Principle:

This instrument applies a specified DC voltage to two concentric stainless steel electrodes immersed in oil, and uses a micro current amplifier to detect the current flowing through the oil to measure its conductivity.

Its basic formula is:

K=QG …………………………………………(1)

=QU/I…………………………………………(2)

=Q/R …………………………………………(3)

K...... Oil conductivity (pS/m)

Voltage applied by the substation (V)

I. Current flowing through the tested oil (pA)

Q...... Conductivity measurement of the conductivity cell constant of the electrical structure (Q=1/m in this instrument)

R... resistance of electrical fuel (T Ω)

The electrical conductivity (pS) of the oil material in the electrical room

  • Usage and operation steps

1. Routine inspection:

1)When this instrument needs to automatically maintain the reading for the third second of measurement, you can open the back cover and turn the K0 switch to ON.

2)Insert the battery:

The battery is already installed inside the instrument when it leaves the factory. A new battery can provide the instrument with several thousand measurements. If the self-test reading of the instrument is found to be 10 digits lower, it should be replaced. Use a Phillips screwdriver to open the back cover of this conductivity meter for replacement. The laminated battery model is 6F22, with a specification of 9V

3)Check the zero position:

When this instrument is not equipped with a probe, the digital reading when the 'M' button is pressed should be0000 ± 2.

When the ambient temperature and humidity are high, the zero position of the instrument will deviate by a few numbers. If convenient reading is needed, a clock screwdriver can be used to adjust the internal '0' potentiometer of the instrument to correct it,

4)Self verification:

When both the 'M' and 'T' buttons are pressed simultaneously on this instrument, the displayed number should be '400'.

If the reading is below 390, it is often due to the battery power being exhausted. You can open the back cover of the instrument panel to replace the battery and try again. If the reading deviates by more than ± 10 numbers under normal battery power conditions (indicating that the system error of the instrument has increased by more than 2.5%), it should be sent to this instrument for recalibration.

5)Check the probe:

Twist the probe onto the input socket of the instrument, and operate the 'M' button to check that the zero position of the instrument remains unchanged before the probe is immersed in oil. Touch the probe's internal power with your finger, and the instrument number should overflow and display 1****.

If the zero position changes, it indicates that the edge of the probe or cable is contaminated and needs to be cleaned with analytical grade isopropanol or alcohol. After cleaning, dry it with a hot air blower.

If the digits on the internal electrical instrument do not overflow when touched, it indicates that the probe is not connected to the host or that the instrument battery is low on power.

2. Oil sample preparation:

1) The container for holding the oil sample shall be a metal container of not less than 1 liter;

2) Containers, oil collection tools, and instrument probes should be washed clean with solvents (analytical grade isopropanol or alcohol),And use an electric hair dryer for hair cutting to dry it.

3) Strictly follow the relevant electrostatic safety operation regulations when taking oil samples;

  1. When taking oil samples, the container should be rinsed multiple times in the oil to ensure that the oil does not contain residual solvent impurities. It is also necessary to wait for about two minutes for the static electricity of the container oil sample to disappear before proceeding with the measurement operation.

3. Measurement:

  • Connect the grounding terminal of the instrument to the metal container of the tested oil sample through a grounding wire.

2) Press the 'M' button before the probe is immersed in oil, and after three seconds, read the instrument reading (this reading is the zero position reading, please pay attention to+or -). After zero digit reading,Return 'M' button;

3) Insert the probe vertically into the oil sample and rinse it up and down multiple times. Then immerse the probe through the second exhaust port and press the 'M' button. After three seconds, read the instrument reading as soon as possible. Subtract the zero reading from the instrument reading to obtain the correct oil conductivity.

When repeating measurements, the probe should be lifted and reinserted into the oil for multiple rinses before taking measurements to avoid errors caused by chemical phenomena.

When the zero position of the instrument panel is abnormal, it is often caused by moisture or pollution. You can open the back cover and use a hair dryer to blow warm air or expose it to sunlight to restore normal operation.

6. Except for the '0' adjustment end that allows users to adjust, please do not adjust any other adjustment ends of this instrument at will!! Otherwise, it will affect the accuracy of this instrument.

The regulating ends inside this instrument are:

'0' - Zero position adjustment

'1' - Test voltage regulation

'2' - Verify and adjust;

'3' - Error Adjustment of Digital Header

  • Precautions

1. The measurement of fuel should comply with safety regulations - the human body, instruments, etc. should be grounded to static electricity (with a resistance of less than 100M Ω to the ground), and the oil sample can only be taken after stopping the pumping operation for two minutes.

2. It is not allowed to open instruments in hazardous areas.

3. The input impedance of this instrument and the edge components of the input plug and socket are afraid of hand sweat contamination! Therefore, please be careful not to touch the edges of these parts.

4. Instruments should be stored in a dry environment. When not in use for a long time, please open the back cover of the instrument panel and remove the battery to avoid battery leakage and damage to the instrument panel.
