Application instructions of ultraviolet radiation meter in medical field
Date: 2025-05-07Read: 8
UV radiometerThe application in the medical industry is extensive and critical, mainly reflected in four core scenarios: monitoring of ultraviolet disinfection effectiveness, verification of medical equipment sterilization, evaluation of air and surface disinfection, and control of laboratory microbial inactivation. Its technical characteristics are highly compatible with the needs of medical scenarios, and the specific analysis is as follows:
1、 UV disinfection effect monitoring: ensuring sterile and safe medical environment
Hospitals, laboratories, pharmacies and other places need to disinfect surgical instruments, test tubes, culture dishes and other items with ultraviolet radiation to block the spread of bacteria and viruses. Traditional chemical disinfection may leave harmful substances, thermal disinfection may damage precision instruments, while ultraviolet disinfection is non-toxic, fast, and has strong penetration. However, the effectiveness of ultraviolet disinfection highly depends on the irradiation intensity. If the intensity is insufficient (such as aging of the lamp tube or too far away), it will lead to disinfection failure and increase the risk of cross infection.
The function of the UV radiometer is to accurately measure the UV radiation dose (unit: μ W/cm ²) and verify whether the disinfection equipment meets national standards. For example, the irradiation intensity of a 30W ultraviolet lamp at a distance of 1 meter should be ≥ 70 μ W/cm ². If the measured value is lower than this standard (such as a clinic's UV lamp measuring 27 μ W/cm ²), the lamp tube needs to be replaced immediately, otherwise it may face administrative penalties (such as a clinic being fined 3000 yuan for non-compliance with radiation intensity standards).
2、 Sterilization verification of medical equipment: ensuring the safety of equipment use
The sterilization lamps of medical equipment (such as endoscopes and ventilator tubes) need to be regularly tested to ensure that their irradiation intensity can kill microorganisms. If the sterilization lamp decays, it may cause the equipment to carry pathogens, leading to iatrogenic infections.
Application of UV radiometer:
SDR254 type: using digital probe technology, it can measure and record real-time power values, maximum values, and energy values with one click, save 10 sets of data, and comply with the requirements of the "Technical Specification for Disinfection of Medical Institutions" (WST 367-2012).
LS126C type: equipped with Bluetooth function, can connect to mobile APP for wireless monitoring data, avoiding UV damage during on-site inspection; Simultaneously record the minimum power value, average value, measurement duration, and timestamp, supporting data export and printing for easy traceability of historical records.
3、 Assessment of Air and Surface Disinfection: Reducing the Risk of Cross Infection
Regular air and surface ultraviolet disinfection is required in hospital operating rooms, wards, and other areas to reduce the concentration of pathogenic microorganisms in the environment.
Monitoring method of UV radiometer:
Air disinfection: Place the probe in the center of the room, 1 meter above the ground, measure the intensity of ultraviolet radiation, and ensure that it meets the disinfection requirements (such as ≥ 70 μ W/cm ²).
Surface disinfection: Place the probe tightly against the disinfected surface (such as operating table, medical equipment), measure the local irradiation intensity, and avoid disinfection failure due to distance attenuation.
4、 Laboratory microbial inactivation control: ensuring experimental results and personnel safety
Laboratories need to disinfect petri dishes, experimental benches, biosafety cabinets, etc. with ultraviolet radiation to prevent microbial contamination of experimental samples or harm to personnel health.
Verification function of UV radiometer:
Quick detection: By real-time measurement of ultraviolet radiation intensity, verify whether the disinfection equipment meets the dosage requirements for inactivating microorganisms within the specified time (such as 30 minutes).
Data recording: Record the changes in radiation intensity during the disinfection process, providing evidence for laboratory quality management systems (such as ISO 15189) to demonstrate that the disinfection process complies with specifications.
5、 Adaptability of Technical Features to Medical Scenarios
The core technologies of UV radiation meters, such as digital probes, anti-interference design, and multi band adaptation, enable them to accurately meet the complex needs of medical scenarios
Anti interference design: Shielding visible light and other radiation interference to ensure measurement accuracy of μ W/cm ² level, avoiding misjudgment caused by environmental light interference.
Multi band adaptation: Supports UV-A (320-400nm), UV-B (280-315nm), and UV-C (100-280nm) measurements, covering commonly used medical disinfection bands (such as UV-C 254nm).
Environmental adaptability: Working temperature 0-40 ℃, humidity<85% RH, suitable for complex environments such as operating rooms and laboratories.
