African Swine Fever (ASF) is an acute, febrile, highly contagious animal disease in pigs caused by African swine fever virus (double stranded DNA virus), characterized by high fever, reticuloendothelial system bleeding, and high mortality rate.

The main targets of African swine fever infection include domestic pigs, wild boars, and soft ticks. Blood, tissue, and soft tick samples are usually collected. For tissue samples and soft ticks, sufficient grinding and crushing of the samples is required before nucleic acid extraction to fully release the nucleic acid, followed by subsequent testing and diagnosis.
