Fluid characteristics
Conductivity: Electromagnetic flow meters (for conductive liquids) or Doppler flow meters (for fluids containing impurities) are preferred.
Solid content: High solid content wastewater requires electromagnetic or ultrasonic flow meters with unobstructed flow components.
Corrosivity: Using corrosion-resistant lining (such as polytetrafluoroethylene) and electrode materials (such as Hastelloy).
flow range
Choose ultrasonic or electromagnetic flow meters for high flow rates (such as municipal drainage); For small flow rates (such as laboratory wastewater), choose vortex or rotor flow meters.
Installation requirements
Requirements for straight pipe section: Electromagnetic flowmeter requires upstream 5D and downstream 3D straight pipe section; Ultrasonic flow meters are sensitive to pipeline roughness.
Space limitations: Plug in or Doppler flow meters are suitable for small space scenarios.
Cost and Maintenance
The initial cost of electromagnetic flowmeter is high, but maintenance is simple; Ultrasonic flowmeter is easy to install, but the sensor needs to be cleaned regularly.
