Not meeting the requirements for straight pipe sections: turbulence interference measurement accuracy
Error operation: Will
float flow meterDirectly installed at the outlet of bends, valves, or pumps without sufficient reserved straight pipe sections.
Consequence: Fluid turbulence causes severe float vibration and large reading fluctuations (with an error of over ± 10%); Long term vibration may damage the float or magnetic coupling components.
The correct approach:
Reserve at least 5 times the diameter of the straight pipe (5D) before the inlet and 3 times the diameter of the straight pipe (3D) after the outlet.
If space is limited, a rectifier (such as a honeycomb rectifier plate) can be installed to reduce turbulence.
Media mismatch: Corrosion/blockage of float and cone tube
Incorrect operation:
When measuring corrosive media such as concentrated sulfuric acid and hydrochloric acid, corrosion-resistant materials such as PTFE and Hastelloy were not selected.
No filter is installed when measuring media containing solid particles or easily crystallizable materials (such as sewage and slurry).
consequence:
Corrosive media can cause perforation of the float or cone tube, leading to leakage.
Particles are stuck in the float, causing readings to be low or invalid.
The correct approach:
Select materials based on the properties of the medium:
Acid/alkali: PTFE float+glass cone tube (low pressure) or Hastelloy float+metal cone tube (high pressure).
Steam: stainless steel float+metal cone tube, equipped with condensing device.
Install a Y-shaped filter (with a filtration accuracy of ≥ 50 mesh) in front of the flowmeter and regularly clean the filter screen.
