Date: 2022-11-25Read: 1

1. The export commodity structure has been further optimized, with mechanical and electrical products playing a leading role.

In 2021, China's exports amounted to 21.73 trillion yuan, of which mechanical and electrical products such as mobile phones, computers, and integrated circuits accounted for 12.83 trillion yuan, accounting for nearly 60%; However, labor-intensive products such as clothing, shoes, hats, bags, toys, etc. only cost 3.94 trillion yuan, accounting for only 18.1%. From this, it can be seen that China's leading export industry has transformed and upgraded from traditional labor-intensive products to industries, fully reflecting the continuous improvement of the quality, grade, and added value of export products.

2. The scale of imports continues to expand, and international economic and trade cooperation is mutually beneficial and win-win.

In 2021, China's imports amounted to 17.37 trillion yuan, an increase of 51.2% compared to 2012. China is an importing country, with the continuous expansion of imports of advanced technology and equipment, key components, and high-quality consumer goods to better meet the needs of domestic production and people's lives. A more open market allows the world to share more of the dividends brought by China's economic growth and consumption prosperity

3. Diversified development of trading partners and a more rational layout of the international market.

China's position as a traditional market trading partner with the European Union, the United States, Japan, South Korea, and other countries is stable, accounting for a total of 38.3% of China's foreign trade in 2021. At the same time, China is actively exploring emerging markets such as ASEAN, Africa, and Latin America, and the proportion of imports and exports with these trading partners has increased from 22.2% in 2012 to 26.2% in 2021. Among them, ASEAN has been China's trading partner continuously in the past two years. It is worth noting that China's trade with countries along the "the Belt and Road" continues to expand, accounting for 29.7% of China's total foreign trade in 2021 from 25% in 2013.

4. The number of foreign trade enterprises is rapidly increasing, and the vitality of market entities is bursting forth.

In 2021, the number of enterprises with import and export performance in China reached 567000, including 476000 private enterprises and 82000 foreign-invested enterprises. From the perspective of import and export scale, private enterprises became the largest foreign trade entity in China in 2019, and their proportion of import and export value reached 48.6% in 2021, nearly half of the country's total. Over the past decade, China has continuously optimized the business environment at ports, increased support for small and medium-sized enterprises, and created a favorable environment for various market entities to compete for development, providing confidence and confidence for enterprises to explore new markets and optimize their global market layout.

5. The new driving force of foreign trade development is constantly stimulated, and new competitive advantages are accelerating.

The role of the open platform to the outside world is evident. In 2021, the import and export of China's comprehensive bonded zones, free trade pilot zones, and Hainan Free Trade Port increased by 23.8%, 26.4%, and 57.7% respectively. In terms of emerging trade formats, the scale of cross-border e-commerce and market procurement in China has rapidly expanded. In 2021, the import and export scale of cross-border e-commerce in China reached 1.92 trillion yuan, an increase of 18.6%; The market procurement and export increased by 32.1%, showing a vigorous development trend.
