Method for reliability index of xenon lamp weathering test chamber:

The method for determining the reliability index of the xenon lamp weathering test chamber should be based on the reliability requirements proposed by the user, and then select appropriate reliability characteristic quantities according to the different purposes of the development object to determine the reliability index of the equipment, that is, the target value of the equipment reliability characteristic quantity. If it is a repairable continuous working equipment, the average time between operations (MTBF) is generally used as the indicator.

The reliability target value within the specified time can also be used as an indicator. For example, users can directly request the MTBF of the xenon lamp weathering test chamber to be no less than 500h or 1000h. Sometimes users request that no more than 3 out of 100 devices be damaged during a year of work, which actually means that the reliability of 100 devices used for one year should not be less than 97%. Here, reliability can be directly used as an indicator, or it can be assumed that the distribution of equipment failure over time follows an exponential distribution, and the target value of the corresponding MTBF indicator can be obtained using the formula of the reliability function.

Of course, if assuming other types of distributions, the corresponding formula is used to calculate the required MTBF target value. The success rate is often used as an indicator for the weathering test chamber of xenon lamps that do not work continuously. For irreparable equipment, the average lifespan (or average working time before failure) can be used as an indicator. In short, the method of determining reliability indicators should be based on understanding and mastering the content described in Chapter 2 of this book, clarifying the basic concepts of each reliability mathematical characteristic quantity and the relationships between each characteristic quantity, and then using appropriate reliability characteristic quantities as equipment reliability indicators according to the purpose of the developed object and the reliability requirements of the user.
