  busBus terminology:

Bus bandwidth: Bus bandwidth refers to the amount of data that can be transmitted on the bus within a certain period of time, in MB per second.

Bus bit width: The bit width of a bus refers to the number of data bits (32 bits, 64 bits, etc.) that the bus can transmit simultaneously. It is closely related to the data transmission rate, and the wider the bit width, the higher the data transmission rate.

XT (Extended Technology): It is the predecessor of ISA, the longer section of the ISA slot, and was a standard proposed by IBM on its PC/XT computers to increase system performance. XT * is controlled by the CPU, with a data width of 8 bits and a data transfer rate of 2.38Mbps. df

MCA (Microchannel Architecture): Microchannel Architecture, MCA is a 32-bit standard developed by IBM specifically to replace the ISA bus. It has a bus speed of 10.33MHz, a bandwidth of 40MB/s, and supports bus master control, but it is not compatible with ISA,

ExternalBus: The commonly referred to bus refers to the off chip bus, which is the communication path between the CPU and the interfaces of memory RAM, ROM, and input/output devices.

ISA bus (Industry Standard Architecture): jointly developed by IEEE and EISA Group, it is a 16 bit architecture with a data transfer rate of 16MB/S and a maximum clock frequency of 8MHz.

PCI bus (Peripheral Component Interconnect): It belongs to the local bus and is a bus structure introduced by the PCI Group. It has a data transfer rate of 133MB/S and strong load capacity, can support 10 peripherals, and is compatible with ISA and EISA buses.

EISA Bus: EISA (Extended Industrial Standard Architecture) is a bus extension standard designed by the EISA Group to accommodate 32-bit CPUs. It absorbs the essence of IBM microchannel bus, and is compatible with ISA bus. The transmission rate reaches 32MB/S, and the Zui large clock frequency is 8.3MHz.
