Reasons for using microwave digestion instrument
Date: 2017-01-17Read: 12
adoptMicrowave digestion instrumentThe reasons are as follows:
1) Compared with heating plate digestion, digestion can be completed 4-100 times faster.
2) The commonly used 2450MHz microwave can only cause molecular (particle) motion without causing structural changes, thus not changing the direction of the digestion reaction.
3) Microwaves directly release energy to the sample (heat is a byproduct), avoiding energy loss in traditional methods such as thermal conduction and convection, and improving energy utilization efficiency.
4) Most traditional reagents can still be used in microwave digestion, so most reaction operators do not need to change the type of reagent. And the acids used for digestion will not decrease or lose their strength due to the evaporation of their active ingredients.
5) The digestion of the sample can be further improved. In many digestion procedures, the use of perchloric acid can be avoided. For example, during microwave digestion, HNO3 produces higher temperatures due to the pressure inside the digestion bottle, resulting in better digestion results, replacing the use of perchloric acid.
6) Sealed microwave digestion can assist the reaction by increasing temperature/pressure, allowing the reactants to rapidly decompose at a specific temperature, reducing the time required for decomposition and improving work efficiency, which is impossible for traditional methods.
7) Volatile elements such as As, Hg, etc. can be retained in the digestion solution to prevent deviation of results and environmental pollution caused by volatilization. At the same time, it also prevents operators from coming into contact with acid mist and harmful gases such as hydrofluoric acid.
8) Due to the small amount and sealed nature of microwave digestion reagents, sample contamination caused by airborne particles or exudation can be eliminated. Therefore, there are lower blank values.
9) The microwave digestion instrument can quantitatively control the transfer of microwave energy through the automatic adjustment of the magnetron, thereby controlling the decomposition conditions and achieving automatic control of the reaction. Avoiding errors and inaccuracies caused by human operation.
10) By controlling the temperature and pressure, the quality of digestion can be ensured, and the parallelism and repeatability of the reaction can be guaranteed.
