Wedge Flow meterIt is a flow measurement instrument designed based on the principle of differential pressure. Its core component is a V-shaped wedge structure throttling element, which calculates the flow rate by measuring the pressure difference generated when the fluid flows through the wedge. It changes the fluid flow cross-section through a V-shaped wedge block. When the medium flows through the wedge block, a high-pressure zone is formed on the upstream side and a low-pressure zone is formed on the downstream side. The differential pressure value is proportional to the square of the fluid flow rate. The design with its smooth top angle facing downwards can avoid stagnant flow of suspended particles or high viscosity fluids upstream of the throttling element, ensuring measurement stability. The instrument structure is divided into integral and separate types, with connection methods including flange, welding, threading, and clamp type. The pressure tapping methods include ordinary tapping and flange sealing tapping, which are suitable for different working conditions.
Wedge Flow meterDaily inspection and cleaning:
1. Appearance inspection
Regularly inspect the flowmeter casing, connecting flanges, and pressure taps for leaks, corrosion, or mechanical damage.
Confirm that the instrument junction box is well sealed to prevent rainwater or dust from entering and causing circuit faults.
2. Cleaning of pressure tap
The wedge flowmeter calculates the flow rate by measuring the pressure difference on both sides of the wedge block, and the pressure port is easily blocked by particles, fibers, or scaling in the medium.
Cleaning method:
Close the upstream and downstream valves, release pressure, and remove the pressure tapping tube. Use a soft bristled brush or compressed air to clean the inside of the pressure tapping port.
For viscous media such as heavy oil and resin, they can be soaked in specialized cleaning agents and rinsed to avoid scratching with hard tools.
3. Wedge surface maintenance
Wedges are the core components of flow meters, and their surface smoothness directly affects measurement accuracy.
Maintenance points:
Regularly inspect the surface of the wedge block for scratches, corrosion, or deposits.
Slight dirt can be wiped with a soft cloth dipped in alcohol, while severe corrosion requires contacting the manufacturer to replace the wedge block.
