What is the specific maintenance of the plug-in vortex flowmeter?
Date: 2025-11-19Read: 4
  Plug in vortex flowmeterIt is an instrument designed specifically for measuring flow in large-diameter pipelines, based on the Karman vortex street principle. When a fluid flows through a non streamlined vortex generator in a pipeline, two columns of vortices with opposite rotation directions will be alternately generated on both sides, and the frequency of vortex detachment is proportional to the fluid flow velocity. By detecting the vortex frequency through a piezoelectric sensor and converting it into an electrical signal proportional to the flow rate (such as 4-20mA current or pulse signal), flow measurement can be achieved.
Its core advantage lies in adapting to scenarios with large pipe diameters. The traditional full tube vortex flowmeter is difficult to apply when measuring pipe diameters exceeding 300mm due to reduced instrument coefficients, decreased resolution, and complex installation. However, the plug-in design effectively solves this problem by inserting the measuring head into the center point of the pipeline, only measuring local flow velocity, and then combining algorithms to calculate the overall flow rate. The device has a compact structure, light weight, low manufacturing cost, and supports continuous installation and disassembly, making it easy to maintain and verify in the later stage. Its pressure loss is extremely small, and its impact on large-diameter pipelines can be ignored. At the same time, the calibration process is simple, only requiring calibration of the measuring head instrument coefficient, without the need for large calibration devices.
  Plug in vortex flowmeterMaintenance and upkeep methods;
1. Regular cleaning: The probe is the core component of the vortex flowmeter, and if its detection hole is blocked or wrapped by dirt, plastic cloth, etc., it will directly affect the measurement accuracy. Therefore, it is necessary to regularly clean the probe to ensure that the detection hole is unobstructed.
2. Moisture proof treatment: Most probes have not undergone moisture proof treatment, and their performance may be affected in humid environments or if they are not dried in a timely manner after cleaning. To avoid such problems, the probe should be regularly dried or other moisture-proof measures should be taken, such as using a moisture-proof cover.
3. Regular inspection: To ensure the accuracy of flow meter measurement, it is necessary to regularly check its grounding and shielding conditions to eliminate external interference. At the same time, check whether the sensors, cables, and connectors are damaged or worn, and if necessary, replace the damaged parts in a timely manner.
4. Daily protection:
Protect the inner lining of the flowmeter, reduce contact with oil substances, and avoid affecting the performance of the insulation lining.
Avoid damaging the surface smoothness with hard bruises to avoid affecting the measurement accuracy of the flowmeter.
5. Avoid vibration and corrosion:
There are very precise components inside the flowmeter, and strong vibration may cause internal deformation or rupture. Therefore, vibration should be avoided as much as possible during installation and use.
Prevent corrosive liquids from flowing into the flowmeter to avoid damaging components or affecting measurement accuracy.
6. Regular calibration: To ensure the accuracy and stability of the flow meter measurement, it is necessary to calibrate it regularly. The calibration cycle is generally one year, which can be sent to the designated metrological verification unit of ZF for calibration, or outsourced or operated by oneself. During the calibration process, it is necessary to use standard flow meters or other reliable methods for comparison to ensure the accuracy of the calibration results.
7. Data management: Properly manage the instrument data of the flowmeter, including maintenance records, calibration reports, etc. These materials help to understand the usage status and maintenance history of the flowmeter, providing reference for future maintenance and calibration.
