Sharing of Scientific Treatment Methods for Typical Malfunctions of Sewage Network Water Quality Testers
Date: 2025-11-24Read: 9

As the core equipment for intelligent management of urban drainage systems, the sewage network water quality detector can monitor key parameters such as pH, COD, ammonia nitrogen, turbidity, conductivity, and liquid level in real time, providing data support for pollution tracing, overflow warning, and operation and maintenance scheduling. However, prolonged exposure to harsh environments with high humidity, corrosion, and impurities can lead to issues such as data drift, sensor blockage, or communication interruption. Mastering the identification and scientific treatment methods of typical faults in sewage network water quality detectors is the key to ensuring the continuity and accuracy of monitoring.

1、 Sensor reading drift or distortion
Oil, suspended solids, and biofilms in sewage are prone to adhere to the surface of the probe, resulting in slow response or abnormal values. resolvent:
Regular automatic cleaning: enable the built-in air blowing, ultrasonic or mechanical scraping functions of the device (recommended every 2-4 hours);
Manual maintenance: Disassemble the sensor monthly, clean it with a soft bristled brush dipped in diluted citric acid (descaling) or sodium hypochlorite (sterilizing) solution, and then rinse with deionized water;
Calibration verification: Use standard buffer or calibration solution for zero and span calibration every 15 days to ensure that the error is within ± 5%.
2、 Probe blockage or severe scaling
Especially in high hardness or high organic matter wastewater, calcium and magnesium precipitates or biofouling can cover the electrodes. The countermeasures include:
Install a pre filter or sand settling device to reduce the entry of large particles;
Select sensors with self-cleaning structures (such as rotary turbidity probes);
For pH/ORP electrodes, check if the reference solution is sufficient and replenish the electrolyte in a timely manner.
3、 Communication interruption or data upload failure
This is often caused by SIM card arrears, weak signal, unstable power supply, or protocol configuration errors. Should:
Check the signal strength of 4G/LoRa/NB IoT modules and install external antennas if necessary;
Confirm that the power supply voltage is stable (usually DC12-24V) and that the battery or solar panel is working properly;
Check if the platform IP address, port number, and communication protocol (such as Modbus TCP, MQTT) match.
4、 Equipment water ingress or circuit malfunction
Although the protection level reaches IP68, long-term immersion or aging of the sealing ring may still cause water leakage. During each inspection, it is necessary to check the sealing of the junction box and whether the waterproof rubber ring at the cable entrance is tightened; If water vapor is found inside, immediately turn off the power and dry it, and replace the O-ring.
5、 The impact of low temperatures in winter
In winter, insulation layers or heat tracing belts need to be installed in northern regions to prevent sensor freezing and electrolyte solidification. Some models support low-temperature compensation algorithms, which can automatically correct the impact of temperature on measurements.
