Steps for using a lightweight AC voltage withstand test device
Date: 2025-05-01Read: 12
The lightweight AC withstand voltage test device is an important equipment for conducting insulation withstand voltage tests on high-voltage electrical equipment, electrical components, and insulation materials under power frequency or DC high voltage in the power system. Due to its advantages of small size, light weight, compact structure, and complete functions, it is widely used in fields such as power, mining, and scientific research. In order to ensure the smooth progress of the experiment and the safety of personnel and equipment, the following are detailed instructions for the use of the lightweight AC withstand voltage test device:
  1、 Preparation before the experiment
  1. Equipment inspection:
Check whether the appearance of the lightweight AC voltage withstand test device is intact, whether the connections of each component are firm, and confirm that the equipment is free of damage, leakage, and other safety hazards.
Check if the wiring of the instrument is correct and if the grounding wire is reliably grounded.
  2. Preparation of test equipment:
Understand the rated voltage, capacity, insulation resistance and other parameters of the tested equipment to ensure that it meets the test requirements.
Clean and dry the test equipment, and remove external wiring and equipment unrelated to the experiment.
  3. environment check:
Ensure that the testing environment meets the requirements, there are no flammable or explosive materials around, and the temperature and humidity are within the specified range.
Set up safety warning signs to prevent unrelated personnel from entering the testing area.
  4. Refer to standardsBased on the condition of the test sample, refer to relevant "standards" or "specifications" to determine the voltage value for the AC withstand voltage test.
  5. Draw a wiring diagramSelect and prepare test equipment according to equipment components and testing requirements, and draw detailed test wiring diagrams.
2、 Layout and wiring of experimental equipment
  1. equipment layoutBased on the experimental equipment and field conditions, first arrange the experimental equipment reasonably.
  2. Wiring operation:
Connect the wires according to the wiring diagram to ensure that there is sufficient safety distance between the high-voltage part and the ground, and between the testing personnel and the high-voltage part.
The high-voltage lead should be as short as possible, the connection should be secure, and all non tested parts should be reliably grounded.
After the wiring is completed, a second person should conduct a thorough and comprehensive inspection to ensure that the position of the testing equipment and instrument settings are appropriate, the voltage regulator should be in the output zero position, and the wiring is correct and error free.
  3、 Formal experimental operation
  1. No load debugging:
Start the test device and perform no-load debugging without connecting the test equipment.
Check if the output voltage and frequency of the testing device are stable, and if all indicator lights and instruments are working properly.
  2. Boost operation:
Before the formal experiment, disconnect the wire leading to the test object, short-circuit the safety meter, close the power switch, and gradually increase the voltage.
Adjust the discharge voltage of the protective ball gap to 1.1-1.15 times the test voltage value, so that all three discharge voltage values are close to the required set value.
Then raise the voltage to the test voltage value for 1 minute. Reduce the voltage to zero again, and finally disconnect the power switch.
Connect the wire leading to the test sample, then turn on the power switch and start boosting.
The boosting speed should be controlled within the range of 3% to 5% of the test voltage per second, especially when the voltage rises to one-third of the test voltage, the boosting speed should be more uniform.
When the voltage reaches the desired value, stop rotating the voltage regulator handwheel and press the timer button.
  3. Voltage resistance maintenance:
After the output voltage rises to the set test voltage, it should be maintained for a certain period of time, generally ranging from 1 minute to 5 minutes, and the specific time should be determined according to relevant standards and the requirements of the tested equipment.
During the voltage holding period, continuously observe the insulation condition of the tested equipment, and record any discharge, breakdown, or other phenomena.
  4. Voltage reduction and power outage:
After the withstand time is over, rotate the voltage regulator handwheel in reverse to slowly reduce the output voltage of the test device to zero.
Cut off the power supply. It is strictly prohibited to suddenly cut off the power supply without reducing the voltage to zero, in order to avoid overvoltage damage to the equipment.
  4、 Post experimental processing
  1. Discharge treatment:
After the discharge of the test device and the tested equipment is completed, remove the connecting wires between the test device and the tested equipment.
Perform ground discharge on the tested equipment to ensure it is in a safe state.
  2. Data recording and analysis:
Record various data during the test process, including test voltage, test time, leakage current, etc.
Analyze and judge the test results, issue a test report based on the test results, and provide a basis for the operation and maintenance of the tested equipment.
  3. Equipment inspection and maintenance:
After the experiment is completed, conduct a comprehensive inspection of the testing device to ensure that it is in good condition.
Regularly maintain and upkeep the testing equipment to extend its service life.
  5、 Precautions
  1. Professional operationMost resonant power supply products are high-voltage testing equipment and require professional high-voltage testing personnel to use them. Before use, carefully read the user manual and undergo repeated operation training.
  2. staffingThere should be no less than 2 operators, and they should strictly follow the safety operation regulations of the unit regarding high-voltage testing when using it.
  3. national standardIn order to ensure the safety and correctness of the test, in addition to being familiar with the product manual, it is also necessary to strictly follow the relevant national standards and regulations for the test operation.
  4. Wiring inspectionEach connecting wire must not be connected incorrectly, especially the grounding wire, otherwise it may cause damage to the testing device.
  5. safety distanceWhen the device is in use, it outputs high or ultra-high voltage and must be reliably grounded. Pay attention to the safe distance during operation.
  6. exception handlingIf any abnormal phenomena are found during the boosting process (such as large oscillation of the voltmeter indication, sharp increase of the milliampere meter indication, burning or smoking of the insulation, abnormal noise from the test object, etc.), the test should be stopped immediately, the cause should be identified and the fault should be eliminated before proceeding with the test.
By following the above usage steps and precautions, it is possible to ensure that the lightweight AC withstand voltage test device plays an important role in high-voltage testing of the power system, while ensuring the safety of personnel and equipment.
