Avio 220 Max ICP-OES attenuation mode for analysis of high concentration elements
In ICP-OES analysis, it is common to measure high concentration elements, such as minerals, matrix elements in alloys, and major elements in electroplating solutions. However, due to the high concentration, the response value should deviate from linearity, and non-linear response will lead to inaccurate results.
To overcome this problem, several common methods must be used to reduce sensitivity: using radial observation instead of axial observation, introducing fewer samples into the plasma (by diluting the sample and changing the plasma or sample introduction conditions), and selecting spectral lines (wavelengths) with lower sensitivity. Although these methods are effective solutions, they cannot be called ideal solutions.
The Avio 220 Max hybrid direct reading ICP-OES is equipped with an attenuation mode that selectively reduces the signal of the analyte, enabling measurement of higher concentration analytes and expanding the dynamic range of ICP-OES without affecting its ability to measure low concentration analytes. The attenuation mode provides users with many excellent performance experiences, such as simplified methods, minimal sample dilution, and the ability to measure higher concentrations without using sub sensitive wavelengths.
