What are the components of an online smoke flowmeter?
Date: 2025-06-14Read: 10
Online smoke flowmeterIt is a professional equipment used for real-time monitoring of gas flow rate in flues or pipelines, widely used in fields such as environmental monitoring, industrial process control, and energy management. Mainly based on pitot tube method, ultrasonic method or thermal principle. Among them, the pitot tube method calculates the flow velocity by measuring the difference between the total pressure and static pressure of the flue gas (dynamic pressure) and combining it with the Bernoulli equation; The ultrasonic method utilizes the correlation between the propagation speed and flow velocity of ultrasonic waves in flue gas, and calculates the flow velocity by measuring the propagation time difference or frequency change; The thermal principle calculates the flow rate by detecting the change in heat carried away by the heating element due to the airflow. These methods each have their own advantages. The pitot tube method is suitable for high temperature and high dust environments, the ultrasonic method has strong anti-interference ability, and the thermal method has high accuracy and fast response.
  Online smoke flowmeterThe components of:
1. Sensor unit
Flow velocity sensor:
Pitot tube sensor: Based on the principle of differential pressure, the flow rate is calculated by measuring the dynamic pressure and static pressure difference of the flue gas. For example, the "S" type pitot tube is suitable for high dust and highly corrosive flue gas environments.
Ultrasonic sensor: By emitting and receiving ultrasonic signals, the flow rate is measured using the time difference method. It is designed non-contact and suitable for low flow rates and clean smoke environments.
Laser Doppler sensor: measures particle velocity through laser scattering and Doppler effect, suitable for high-precision flow velocity monitoring.
Thermal conductivity sensor: calculates flow velocity through heat exchange between heating elements and flue gas, suitable for measuring specific gas components.
Temperature and pressure compensation sensor:
Temperature sensors (such as PT100 or thermocouples): Real time monitoring of flue gas temperature, used for compensating and correcting flow rate calculations.
Pressure sensor: measures the static pressure, dynamic pressure, or atmospheric pressure inside the flue to ensure the accuracy of flow rate calculation.
2. Signal processing and transmission module
data collector:
Convert the analog signals (such as voltage and current) collected by sensors into digital signals, and perform amplification, filtering, and other processing.
Supports multiple communication protocols (such as RS485, MODBUS, 4-20mA) to transmit data to the monitoring system or upper computer.
microprocessor:
Built in algorithms (such as real-time temperature and pressure compensation, differential pressure calculation) directly process data and output parameters such as flow rate, temperature, and pressure.
Some devices support storing historical data for subsequent analysis.
3. Display and operation interface
Local display screen:
LCD or LED screen, real-time display of flow rate, temperature, pressure and other parameters, some devices support Chinese interface.
Provide instrument status indication (such as normal operation, fault alarm, calibration prompt, etc.).
Operation buttons:
Used for setting parameters (such as flow rate range, alarm threshold), manual calibration, switching display modes, etc.
Some devices support touch screen operation, simplifying the interaction process.
4. Mechanical structure and installation accessories
Probe and Insertion Components:
Pitot tube probe: inserted into the flue, directly in contact with the flue gas, requiring corrosion-resistant and anti clogging design (such as "S" shaped opening, filter screen).
Ultrasonic/laser probe: fixed on the outer wall of the flue or inserted into the flue, non-contact measurement, without direct contact with the flue gas.
Installation bracket and flange:
Used to fix probes or hosts, suitable for different flue sizes and materials (such as stainless steel, ceramic).
Some devices support flange connection or quick plug design for easy installation and maintenance.
Protective shell:
Waterproof, dustproof, and corrosion-resistant casing (with a protection level of IP65 or above), protecting internal electronic components from harsh environmental influences.
5. Auxiliary function module
Backblowing and self-cleaning system:
Backblowing circuit: Regularly blow the pitot tube probe with high-pressure gas (such as compressed air) to prevent dust blockage.
Automatic cleaning device: Some equipment integrates mechanical or ultrasonic cleaning functions to reduce manual maintenance frequency.
Calibration module:
Zero calibration: Eliminate sensor zero drift manually or automatically.
Range calibration: Use a standard flow rate source (such as a calibration wind tunnel) to calibrate the sensor.
Power Supply and Power Supply System:
Supports direct current (such as 24V DC) or alternating current (such as 220V AC) power supply, and some devices can be equipped with backup batteries.
Power isolation design, strong anti-interference ability, ensuring stable operation of equipment.
6. Data processing and output unit
Data recording and storage:
Built in memory (such as SD card, solid-state drive) stores historical data, supports time stamps and event recording (such as faults, calibration).
Remote transmission interface:
Communication modules such as Ethernet, WiFi, 4G, etc. upload data to environmental monitoring platforms or mobile apps.
Support multi device networking to achieve distributed monitoring.
7. Optional extension module
Multi parameter integration:
Integrate SO ₂, NOx, O ₂ and other flue gas composition analyzers to achieve synchronous monitoring of flow rate and pollutant concentration.
Adaptation to low oxygen environment:
Add oxygen sensors and nitrogen replenishment functions for flow rate measurement in oxygen deficient or oxygen rich environments.
High temperature and high pressure adaptation:
For high-temperature flue gas ducts (such as>300 ℃) or high-pressure environments, high-temperature resistant materials and sealing designs should be selected.
