Application practice of fluorescence quantitative fungal toxin detector in food security
Date: 2025-10-13Read: 10
Fungal toxins are the "invisible killers" of food security, difficult to destroy through conventional cooking, and long-term ingestion can cause liver damage, immune suppression, and even cancer.Fluorescence quantitative fungal toxin detectorRelying on immune chromatography and fluorescence signal analysis technology, with fast and accurate detection capabilities, it runs through the entire chain of grain production from pre production to post production, becoming a core equipment for safety control.
In the planting and purchasing process, this instrument can achieve "rapid inspection of the ground". Before harvesting crops such as wheat and corn, growers or buyers can use portable devices to collect samples on site. Within 10-20 minutes, it can be determined whether the grains are contaminated with zearalenone and zearalenone, avoiding the flow of "toxic grains" into subsequent processes. A certain production area once used this instrument to screen and remove 20 tons of moldy wheat in advance, reducing economic losses for growers and providing data support for field disease prevention and control.
In the storage and processing stages, instruments play a role in "dynamic monitoring" and "quality control". During grain storage, abnormal temperature and humidity can easily breed Aspergillus and produce aflatoxin. The grain depot used its layered sampling detection, combined with temperature and humidity data to establish an early warning model, and timely discovered 50 tons of corn exceeding the standard, avoiding the scrapping of the entire warehouse. Processing enterprises focus on the full process testing of raw materials, semi-finished products, and finished products. A certain feed factory detected excessive levels of zearalenone in corn through it and promptly replaced the raw materials to avoid downstream breeding losses.
In the process of circulation and supervision, instruments are powerful tools for "rapid interception" and "emergency response". Wholesale markets, supermarkets, and ports need to deal with multiple batches of grain, and the instruments support simultaneous detection of multiple toxins, with a lower limit as low as 0.1 μ g/kg, meeting national and international quarantine requirements. A certain customs once used it to detect excessive levels of aflatoxin in imported peanuts and returned them in accordance with the law; When faced with the public opinion of "moldy rice", regulatory authorities carry equipment for on-site inspections and provide results within 2 hours to quickly respond to public concerns.

Key considerations in application practice
to ensureFluorescence quantitative fungal toxin detectorThe detection results are accurate and reliable, and in the application process, the following three points should be focused on:
1. Sample pretreatment: Ensure representativeness and purity
Sampling should follow the principle of "random, stratified, and equal quantity": for example, storing grain should be done at five points in the east, west, south, north, and middle of the grain warehouse, with 1kg of sample taken from each layer (upper, middle, and lower), mixed and reduced to 100g to avoid "missed detection" due to uneven sampling;
The sample needs to remove impurities and moldy particles: impurities such as sediment and straw in the grain can interfere with the fluorescence signal, and severely moldy grains need to be picked out separately (such grains have high toxin content and may affect the overall detection results) to ensure that the test sample is a "uniform and pure" grain or powder.
2. Instrument calibration and quality control
Regularly calibrate the instrument with standard samples: Before each batch of testing, a known concentration of fungal toxin standard (such as aflatoxin B ₁ standard, concentration 5 μ g/kg) should be used for verification to ensure the accuracy of the instrument's testing results;
Set up blank control and positive control: Blank control (food samples without toxins) is used to eliminate reagent contamination, and positive control (samples with known concentrations of toxins) is used to verify the effectiveness of the detection process, avoiding false negatives/false positives caused by reagent failure or operational errors.
3. Data traceability and compliance
The testing data needs to be recorded throughout the entire process, including sample information (source, batch, sampling time), instrument parameters (testing time, reagent batch number), testing results (numerical value, whether qualified), to ensure data traceability and meet the requirements of "full traceability" for food safety;
The instrument must comply with national standards: select products certified by the General Technical Requirements for Rapid Detection Instruments of Fungal Toxins (GB/T 38164-2019) to avoid the use of non compliant instruments that may result in detection results not being recognized by regulatory authorities.
