2、 Preparation work

2-1 Equipment Placement

a) When installing the equipment, pay attention to adjusting the height of each foot to keep the equipment level. The installation location should pay attention to the necessary space for equipment operation, maintenance, and repair. Try to install it near the window as much as possible to facilitate the salt spray testing machine for mist removal and other purposes.

b) The installation position of the machine should avoid direct sunlight to avoid affecting the testing conditions.

c) Keep the surrounding environment clean and tidy.

2-2 Preparation of gas and water sources

➢ Gas source

Prepare an air compressor with a power of 2.2KW (3HP) or above, connect an 8mm diameter air pipe externally, and insert the quick connector of the pressure regulating valve on the back of the salt spray machine. And observe the pressure of the back pressure regulating valve to ensure that the pressure is at 2kg/cm2. If conditions permit, please connect an external oil-water separator to ensure the purity of the gas source.

(Back pressure gauge, adjust inner ring pressure to number 2)

The spray pressure is maintained at 1kg/cm2, that is, the pressure of the front pressure regulating valve (the pressure must be displayed in the spray state). The pressure gauge is as shown in the figure:(Front pressure regulating valve and pressure gauge, adjust inner ring pressure to number 1)

➢ Water source

The device can choose between manual or automatic water replenishment modes. If manual water replenishment is used, please prepare sufficient pure water or distilled water. The salt spray machine laboratory, pressure tank, saltwater storage tank, and sealed water tank all need to be filled with water. The laboratory, pressure tank, and sealed water tank all need to be filled with pure water. Only the saltwater storage tank of the entire salt spray testing machine needs to be filled with the prepared saltwater test solution. If automatic water replenishment is used, the automatic water replenishment port at the rear of the equipment needs to be connected to the water source. The automatic water replenishment port is shown in the figure on the right. The entire salt spray testing machine only requires the addition of pre prepared saline solution at the reagent inlet.

Installation of fog pipe

The mist exhaust pipe of the salt spray machine is a very important part. Please be sure to connect the mist exhaust pipe equipped by our company to the outside, or prepare a suitable mist exhaust pipe (non-metallic material) by yourself. The diameter of the mist exhaust port is 50mm, and it should be installed in parallel or downward direction during installation. Do not coil or install upwards, as this may result in the inability to eliminate salt spray and affect the test effect.

(Please make sure to connect the fog outlet to the outside as required)

Installation of drainage pipes

The back of the equipment is equipped with laboratory drainage outlets, saltwater drainage outlets, and pressure tank drainage outlets, which need to be connected to the sewer according to their respective pipe diameters. The laboratory drainage outlet is a 20mm diameter PPR pipeline, and the saltwater drainage outlet is a 20mm diameter PPR pipeline.

3、 Instructions for Pre Test Operation Steps

3-1 Gas connection:

Insert the prepared gas source into the pressure regulating valve on the back of the salt spray machine and adjust the pressure to 2kg/cm2. See 2-2 for details on gas source preparation.

3-2 Add water:

automatic hydration

The rear of the device is equipped with an automatic water replenishment interface, which can be connected to an external water source (water source pressure greater than 2kg/cm2). Turn on the device power, turn on the device power switch, run the test equipment to automatically detect low water level, automatically protect against water shortage, and automatically replenish water for the laboratory and pressure tank until the corresponding water level is filled.

Manual water replenishment

a) Add water to the laboratory: Turn on the power and observe the low water level control float in the laboratory. If the float failscompletelyFloating up, it indicates that the laboratory is short of water (located below the mesh partition plate at the bottom of the right front end inside the test chamber). Open the cover of the laboratory and pour the prepared purified water directly into the box until the low water level float in the laboratory is reachedcompletelyFloat up and be careful not to sprinkle water into the salt spray settling collector during the water addition process.

b) Fill the saturated tank with water: Pay attention to the low water level indicator on the right side of the equipment's liquid level indicator tube. There is a gray funnel-shaped water inlet on the back of the salt spray machine, as shown in the picture: open the red valve of the water inlet (please pay attention to the rotation direction, otherwise it will be twisted), slowly add the prepared purified water into the funnel. Due to the small diameter, the water flow rate is slow, please add slowly and patiently. Until the low water level indicator light of the saturation tank goes out, the water level of the saturation tank can be determined based on the liquid level indicator tube on the right side of the equipment. It is recommended to increase the water level to 80%~90% of the indicator tube.

Note: When adding water to the saturation tank or replenishing water in case of water shortage, the spray switch must be turned off first, or water vapor will be ejected.

c) Add water to the sealed water tank: An appropriate amount of pure water should be added to the water tank around the cover of the salt spray machine to prevent salt spray from leaking out from the surrounding area during instrument operation,

3-3 Saltwater Preparation and Injection:

Neutral salt spray test (NSS):

a) It is recommended to prepare 500g bottles of analytical grade sodium chloride for the preparation of the test solution.

b) Take 9500ML of purified water from the 5000ML anti rust plastic bucket we provided, pour it into a larger clean plastic bucket, add 500g of prepared analytical grade sodium chloride, and stir untilcompletelyMelting, at this point the saltwater concentration ratio is 5%.

a) Slowly pour into the "reagent inlet" as shown in the figure: at this time, the saline will gradually flow into the saline preheating tank in the laboratory.

c) For other quality analysis of pure sodium chloride, please prepare it according to a concentration ratio of 5% by yourself

3-4 Precautions

During the operation of the instrument, there may be water shortage alarms in the laboratory and saturation tank, prompting us to promptly replenish water to the corresponding parts of the instrument. In the event of water shortage, the instrument will automatically stop working and sound an alarm to protect itself from dry burning. There will be corresponding alarm prompts on the controller.

Method of adding water and the abovecompletelyConsistent, wait for each water levelcompletelyAfter adding (all low water level indicator lights turn off), reset the alarm point of the equipment controller and restart the operation.

When there is a shortage of salt water, we need to open the small lid of the "test drug inlet" for observation. If there is a shortage of salt water, please re adjust the salt water and ensure that there is always salt water available during operation.

Placement of 3-5 test samples

During the experiment, the position of the sample in the salt spray chamber should meet the following conditions:

Before the experiment, the test sample must undergo a visual inspection and perform other performance tests according to relevant standards. The surface of the test specimen must be clean, free of oil stains, temporary protective layers, and other defects.

a) Unless otherwise specified, the specimen should be supported or suspended at an angle between 15 and 30 degrees from the longitudinal direction, preferably so that most of the surface being tested is parallel to the main direction of the salt spray passing through the salt spray chamber.

b) The samples shall not come into contact with each other or with any metal material or any material that may act as a fuse.

c) Each sample should be in unobstructed contact with the salt spray.

d) The salt solution of each sample shall not drip onto another sample.

4、 Instructions for Common Operation Steps

4-1 Main Screen Introduction

Turn on the device power, and the device controller will automatically start and enter the main screen of the controller. The main screen contains 6 sub page link windows, and the ones we mainly use are the "Monitoring Screen" and "Operation Settings" sub pages.

4-2 Operation Settings

Click on the "Operation Settings" link from the main screen to enter the "Functions and Operations" page of the controller. This page is mainly used for setting commonly used experimental parameters.

Operation mode: Select "fixed value" for routine salt spray test

Temperature limit spray setting:

The factory default settings are "spray on deviation 35 ℃" and "spray off deviation 35 ℃".

The temperature setting here indicates the difference between the set device temperature value and the current actual temperature value during device operation. Within this temperature difference, the equipment will automatically start the spray action. When the temperature difference exceeds the set value, the equipment will limit the spray action. The test time will not be recorded when the equipment is not spray.

Power off mode

There are three power failure modes for the device: "stop", "cold start", and "hot start". Used to control the operating status of equipment that is powered back on after an external power outage during operation. The 'stop' mode indicates that the device will automatically be in a stopped state when it is powered back on after a power interruption during operation. The "cold start" mode means that when the device is powered off during operation and then restored, the device will restart the test before the power outage. The "hot start" mode indicates that the equipment will continue to operate in the test state before the power is cut off and the test task will be completed when the power is restored during the operation of the equipment.

Timer Settings

The time requirements for this test can be used for the equipment. Enter the test time, start the equipment to start the test, and the equipment will automatically complete the test shutdown when it reaches the set time.

Defogging time

The default setting at the factory is 10 minutes. After each test, the device will automatically perform a blowing and defogging action inside the box. After each automatic defogging for 10 minutes, the action will automatically stop.

Spray settings

Spray settings are divided into two time parameters: "spray Time" and "spray Interval". For long-term continuous spray test, only set the "spray interval" to 0 minutes and the "spray time" to any effective number. If the periodic spray test is carried out, the equipment of "spray time" and "spray interval" shall be set according to the specific test requirements to realize the reciprocating cycle action of spraying for a while and stopping for a while.

4-3 Monitoring Screen

Click on the "Monitoring Screen" link from the main screen to enter the "Fixed Value Stop" page of the controller. This page is mainly used for basic operations of commonly used experiments. Conventional experimental operations can be completed by simply meeting here.

When the device beeps after turning on, we can click the "Fault" button to enter the device fault alarm interface, and the corresponding fault point will have a red prompt. When the device triggers a "low salt water" alarm, it is necessary to replenish the prepared salt solution to the device's reagent inlet, and then click "fault reset" to clear the device alarm.

After the device is turned on, click the "Run" button, and the device will change from "Fixed Stop" to "Fixed Run" status, and the device will start running normally. In this state, the equipment will automatically replenish the water level of the laboratory and pressure tank, and there will be a delay in the alarm state. If the water level cannot be replenished within a few minutes, the equipment will issue an "low water level in the box" or "low water level in the saturated tank" alarm.

When the device has an external water source for automatic water replenishment, click "Alarm Release" and then click "Run" again to give the device another water replenishment action. If the device does not have an external water source, it is necessary to manually replenish the water deficient parts of the device, and then click "Alarm Release". Click 'Run' again to start the experiment.

Temperature setting value: The factory default is 35 ℃, indicating the required test temperature value inside the test chamber.

Saturation temperature setting value: The factory default is 47 ℃, indicating the required water temperature inside the pressure tank.

5、 Instructions for post experiment operation steps

5-1 Sample Handling

Post test treatment: After the spray test, when opening the upper cover of the laboratory, take out the sample carefully without dropping the solution, without damaging the main surface, quickly wash away the adhered salt particles with clean water below 38 ℃, remove the corrosion products outside the corrosion points with a brush or sponge, and immediately dry with clean compressed air.

5-2 Drainage

a) Laboratory drainage: Open the red drain valve at the bottom of picture (1) (viewed from the back, located in the lower right corner of the machine back).

b) Salt water tank drainage: Open the red drain valve inside the tank in picture (2), and the remaining salt water flows into the inside of the test chamber (located on the right side wall inside the test chamber).image.png

c) Saturated bucket drainage: located at the bottom of the electrical box, there is a copper valve, and a water basin or other lower edge container is placed below to store the discharged wastewater from the saturated bucket.

d) Drainage of brine transition tank: the brine transition tank located below the spray tower, pull out the silicone plug in the picture, and the brine in the transition tank will be discharged directly (as shown in the following figure).

e) Door sealing groove drainage: There is a silicone plug located on the right side in front of the door sealing groove. Pull out the silicone plug, and the water in the sealing groove will flow into the interior of the laboratory (as shown in the figure below).
