How to accurately distinguish the extension and retraction of German FESTO cylinders

1、 Performance of FESTO cylinder extension and retraction in Germany

FESTO cylinder extension in Germany refers to the extension of the cylinder rod (or piston rod) from the cylinder body; Cylinder retraction refers to the retraction of the output rod (or piston rod) of the cylinder back into the cylinder body. In practical applications, accurate control is required for the extension and retraction of cylinders, otherwise it may lead to production line shutdown, equipment damage, and other issues. Therefore, it is very important to accurately distinguish the performance of cylinder extension and retraction.

Generally speaking, the extension and retraction of FESTO cylinders in Germany exhibit the following behaviors:

1. Rod output position: When extended, the rod output position extends from the cylinder, and when retracted, it returns to the cylinder.

2. Gear position: In machines or equipment using German FESTO cylinders, gears are sometimes used to support rod movement. When the cylinder is extended, the gear is usually farther away from the output rod, while when retracted, it comes into contact with the output rod.

3. Cylinder force: When the cylinder is extended, its force direction is usually from the bottom of the cylinder to the rod outlet, while when retracted, it is the opposite, with the force direction from the rod outlet to the bottom of the cylinder.

2、 Other discrimination methods

In addition to the obvious performance of the German FESTO cylinder mentioned above, the extension and retraction of the cylinder can also be determined by the following methods:

1. Observe the working status of the machine or equipment. When the machine or equipment is in sleep or stopped state, the cylinder rod should be fully retracted into the cylinder.

2. Use a pressure gauge to measure changes in cylinder pressure. When the air pressure is high, the cylinder should be in an extended state, while low pressure indicates that the cylinder is in a retracted state.

3. Slowly open the air source and observe whether there are bubbles generated at the intake of the cylinder. If bubbles appear at the outlet, it indicates that the cylinder is in an extended state; Otherwise, it will be in a retracted state.

3、 Precautions

When checking the extension and retraction performance of FESTO cylinders in Germany, the following issues need to be noted:

1. The connection port between the gas source and the German FESTO cylinder needs to be fully debugged to ensure that the cylinder can extend and retract normally.

When using a pressure gauge to detect changes in the pressure of FESTO cylinders in Germany, it is important to choose appropriate measuring instruments to ensure accurate measurement.

3. When slowly opening the gas source, pay attention to maintaining a stable air pressure and do not inject gas into the cylinder too quickly to avoid uneven pressure and abnormal performance of the cylinder.

In short, accurately distinguishing the behavior of the German FESTO cylinder extension and retraction is crucial for the normal operation of the equipment. I hope this article can help you deepen your understanding of cylinders and better use and maintain equipment.

When compressed air is input from the rodless chamber, the rodless chamber exhausts, resulting in a pressure difference between the two chambers of the cylinder. This pressure difference pushes the piston to overcome the resistance load, causing the piston rod to extend. On the contrary, when there is a rod chamber for intake and no rod chamber for exhaust, the piston rod retracts. By alternately changing the intake direction, the reciprocating linear motion of the piston can be achieved. In general, the working principle of a cylinder is to use pressurized air to push the piston to move, and to control the direction of piston rod movement by changing the intake direction.

Next, we will explore the diagnosis and maintenance techniques for common cylinder faults.

Characteristics of high-quality German FESTO cylinders:

When you tightly block the air hole of the German FESTO cylinder with your hand and try to pull the piston shaft, you will feel a noticeable reverse force; When released, the piston should be able to quickly and automatically bounce back to its original position. Similarly, if you pull out the push rod and block the air hole again, when you press the push rod with your hand, you will also feel a strong reverse force, and when you release it, the piston will quickly bounce back.

The performance of inferior cylinders:

When attempting to pull out the piston shaft, there may be almost no or minimal resistance, resulting in the piston being unable to move or moving slowly and weakly. When attempting to pull out and block the air hole again, a reverse force will be felt, but this reverse force will gradually decrease when pulled continuously. Similarly, when pressing the push rod, one may feel a lack of pressure or too little pressure, and as the pressure increases, the pressure gradually decreases.

Common problems and solutions for magnetic switches:

In practical operation, we often encounter situations where magnetic switches cannot work or have no signal output. This is usually not due to damage to the magnetic switch itself, but rather a change in its installation position, resulting in the inability to sense the magnet in the cylinder. Therefore, we need to regularly check the fastening of the magnetic switch to ensure its normal operation.

Magnetic switch problem handling and simple cylinder maintenance:

When dealing with magnetic switch issues, our primary focus is on its installation position to ensure that it can accurately sense the magnet in the cylinder. Meanwhile, the maintenance of the cylinder itself cannot be ignored. Although it is not recommended to repair the cylinder casually, simple maintenance measures are still necessary for emergency use. When the cylinder leaks, does not move, moves slowly, or leaks air, we can try the following steps to repair it: use clamp pliers to remove the clamp (screw) at the end of the cylinder, take out the piston, and check the rubber ring on top. Usually, these phenomena are caused by excessive wear of rubber bands. After removing the worn rubber band, install a new one and clean the cylinder block to ensure that both intake ports are unobstructed. Finally, apply a small amount of grease free of impurities on the inner wall of the cylinder body, install the retaining spring, and the repaired cylinder life is expected to be extended by one to two years.
