Effective method for determining the material of weight 304 stainless steel
The determination of whether the weight is made of 304 stainless steel can be quickly identified through magnetic testing, surface observation, chemical reactions, and other methods. Here are the specific steps:
Magnetic testing method
304 stainless steel is usually non-magnetic or weakly magnetic, while martensitic stainless steel such as 2Cr13 has stronger magnetic properties. Place a magnet close to the surface of the weight. If the adsorption force is weak or non-magnetic, it may be 304; Strong magnetism tends to favor other materials. Attention: 304 may have weak magnetism after cold processing, and other methods should be used to determine the surface gloss and color
304 stainless steel: polished to a silver bright color with uniform luster.
2Cr13 stainless steel: The color tends to be dull and the polishing effect is poor.
Chemical reaction testing
Lemon juice/salt water test: 304 stainless steel has no rust, 2Cr13 may have slight rust spots.
White vinegar test: 304 stainless steel shows no discoloration, while 2Cr13 may show gray marks.
Professional testing methods
Chemical composition analysis: 304 contains 18-20% chromium and 8-10% nickel, while 2Cr13 contains 12-14% chromium and 0.16-0.25% carbon (excluding nickel).
Spark identification method: 304 spark is short and sparse, 2Cr13 spark is bright and forked at the tail.
Other auxiliary methods
Scratch comparison: Lightly scratch the bottom of the weight with a key. The 304 scratch is light and easy to erase, while the 2Cr13 scratch is deeper.
Liquid detection: The color change of the specialized detection liquid within 3 minutes can determine the material (304 has a small color change).
