1. High frequency radar level sensors (mainly referring to 26GHz and 24GHz) have the advantages of high energy, small beam angle, small antenna size, and high accuracy.
The wavelength of the 2.26GHz radar is 11mm, and the wavelength of the 6GHz radar is 50mm. When measuring the level of bulk materials with a radar level gauge, the radar wave reflection mainly comes from the diffuse reflection of the material surface. The intensity of the diffuse reflection is proportional to the size of the material and inversely proportional to the wavelength. However, most bulk materials have a diameter much smaller than 50mm, which is why the current 26GHz radar is chosen for measuring the level of bulk materials.
In the application of some small cans with small diameters and not very high heights, the length of the 6GHz radar antenna (300-400mm) invisibly increases the blind spot (about 600mm). In addition, due to the poor directionality of the 6GHz radar (large opening angle), multipath reflection will occur in the small cans; The 26GHz radar has a high frequency, short antenna, and good directionality, overcoming the shortcomings of the 6GHz radar and suitable for small tank measurement.
4. Due to the harsh on-site environment, over time, the radar antenna may accumulate dirt, water vapor, etc. The 26GHz radar antenna is small, and an additional antenna cover can greatly improve the impact caused by dirt and water vapor; The 6GHz radar antenna is large, making it difficult to add an antenna cover. And the instrument is heavy and difficult to clean.
Due to the good directionality of the 26GHz radar, many harsh working conditions can be measured by simply isolating the radar level gauge outside the container.
