How to optimize the operation of large ships, improve transportation efficiency and safety, and protect the environment is a hot topic in the field of ships today. In response to the ongoing challenges in the shipbuilding industry, Danfoss has conducted new explorations in the field of ship automation (product library procurement and supply) and proposed a complete solution.
Improving transportation efficiency, digitalization, and promoting green and environmentally friendly systems (product procurement and supply) are the mainstream trends in today's shipbuilding industry. From the overall design of the ship to the engine (purchased and supplied from the product library), to the smallest temperature and pressure sensors (purchased and supplied from the product library), all of these are playing an increasingly important role in ship operations. Only by ensuring that every design and component is optimized in the complex network of digitalization, environmental protection, safety, transportation efficiency, and other factors can ship owners or shipyards win in fierce competition.
Our goal is to provide industrial automation solutions for the shipbuilding industry by providing suitable products for equipment manufacturers and shipyards, enabling ship owners to improve their transportation efficiency, save energy, and reduce emissions. Although our products such as pressure transmitters, temperature sensors, pressure/temperature switches, and solenoid valves (purchased and supplied from the product library) are 'small' in size, they play a crucial role in meeting the needs of today's shipbuilding industry, "said Thomas Schaukal from Danfoss Industrial Automation for the shipbuilding industry.
Intelligent Shipping Technology
Intelligent shipping is equivalent to the digitization and Internet of Things of ship applications and processes. From improving engine efficiency to preventive maintenance to reducing CO2, NOx, and Sox emissions, intelligent control has become the key to winning in the shipbuilding industry.
There are countless opportunities for intelligent shipping, but it may be difficult to grasp in practical operation. Thomas Schaukal gave a very specific example: how to mine the data contained in components and use this data to reduce the downtime rate of marine equipment.
Preventive maintenance ensures engine efficiency and eliminates costly shutdowns. For example, our MBS 9300 series sensors can monitor the pressure of turbochargers. An increase in pressure indicates a blockage in the filter (purchased and supplied from the product library) - while also determining the time to replace the filter, thereby saving time, parts, and fuel consumption. ”
A green propulsion system that complies with IMO standards
The Annex VI of the MARPOL Convention of the International Maritime Organization imposes very strict restrictions on the emissions of sulfur and nitrous oxide during ship operations. For ship owners, strict regulations will increase investment in exhaust gas cleaning (product inventory procurement and supply) systems, such as selective catalytic converters (SCR), exhaust gas recirculation systems (EGR), and waste treatment devices.
The common feature of all exhaust gas purification systems is that they operate in harsh and acidic environments, which pose a threat to the operation of system components and the reliability of the cleaning system.
We are proud that our pressure and temperature sensing technology can adapt well to the harsh environment of air purification devices. We can ensure the safe operation of our customers and comply with gas emission standards. All of our accessories meet the requirements of ship and environmental standards, "said Thomas Schaukal proudly.
