Date: 2018-10-31Read: 7
On September 27, 2018, the Telecommunications Engineering Centre (TEC) of India released the scope and implementation date of mandatory certification for network communication products (i.e. MT&CTE certification).

Controlled products and mandatory dates:

On January 1, 2019, mandatory control measures were implemented on stage products. The following products exported to the Indian market or sold after this date must hold a TEC certificate:

Instruments, modems, video conferencing terminalsISDN Integrated Services Digital Network CPE equipment, wireless transmission equipment including microwave transmission, UHF and VHF equipment, MRTS equipment, satellite equipment, WiFi access equipment and controllers, DWDM dense wavelength division multiplexer, digital cross connect equipment, multiplexing equipment, SDH equipment.

On April 1, 2019, control measures were implemented on the second phase of mandatory products, including:

GPON, DSL equipment, IP terminal equipment, program-controlled switches, media gateways, signaling gateways, SBC equipment, softswitches, mobile devices, base stations Repeater、 Small cellular network devices, routers, LAN switches, and IoT devices.

Introduction to TEC Certification:

Currently, TEC categorizes its products into two types of certification schemes.

SCS (Simplified Certification Scheme): mainly for Group A/B products, please refer to Appendix Table 1 for details, equipment covered by SCS

GCS (General Certification Scheme): mainly for Group B/C products, please refer to Appendix Table 2 for details, equipment covered by GCS

2. TEC certification process:

Both types of products require passing through a locally accredited laboratory in India firstAfter CAB testing, review and issue certificates.

Product Technical Requirements:

All controlled products need to passER (Essential Requirements) testing, including evaluation of Safety, EMI, EMC, SAR, ROHS, IPv6, Security (when notified by DOT) and other related content. The testing part can only be conducted in locally accredited laboratories (CAB) in India, and laboratory accreditation does not currently accept evaluations from foreign laboratories.

But during the transition periodOn March 31, 2019, TEC was able to accept test reports from foreign ILAC laboratories during this period.

Certification Mark:

Product approvedAfter TEC review, the following TEC marks (3mm small) need to be marked on the product body
