Single vertical combustion testing machine: a reliable "judge" of cable flame retardant performance

In the field of production, research and quality inspection of wires and cables, the single vertical combustion testing machine can be regarded as a "gatekeeper". It is not large in size, but it shoulders the responsibility of evaluating the flame retardant performance of cables, and is the behind the scenes hero in ensuring the safety of cables under fire hazards.
This experimental institution is not complicated, but there are many tricks inside. The core component of the combustion torch is like a precise "flame emitter", which can spray stable flames of just the right size and angle according to standard requirements. When measuring cables such as single plastic wires and control wires, the flame height can be flexibly adjusted between 20mm ± 2mm and 190mm ± 1mm, and the vertically suspended cable sample can be stably ignited at a 45 ° angle to simulate the combustion situation in a fire scenario. The box is its "workspace", often made of mirror stainless steel, which is not only sturdy and durable, but also has a smooth appearance without welding points, making it reliable to look at. Moreover, it is very picky about the environment and needs to be placed in an unventilated area with a temperature of (23 ± 10) ℃ to ensure that each experiment is not affected by external interference and the results are accurate.
Operating this machine, although not easy, is not as difficult as imagined. Before use, the cable samples must be fixed vertically on the testing machine like a queue, and the position must be adjusted to be upright, just like a soldier standing upright, without any deviation. Next, set the flame burning time, ranging from as short as 0.1 seconds to as long as 999.9 seconds. According to the testing requirements, you can choose whatever you want. At the moment of ignition, it's like opening the curtain of a 'flame retardant test', with eyes fixed on the reaction of the cables. Observe whether the flame rises rapidly or obediently burns in a small area after it is ignited; Record how long it took from ignition to extinguishing, and what kind of smoke was produced during combustion. These data are key "clues" for determining the flame retardant performance of cables.
The advantages of this testing machine are really there. For cable manufacturers, it is a "magic mirror" of quality. As soon as it is used on the production line, cables with substandard flame retardant performance immediately appear, avoiding defective products from flowing into the market. R&D personnel cannot do without it. Whenever they try new insulation materials or explore new processes, they rely on it to verify the flame retardant effect. In quality inspection agencies, it is a fair "judge" who scores the flame retardant performance of cables based on a series of strict standards such as GB/T18380, ensuring that cable products on the market comply with safety requirements in a standardized manner.
The current single vertical combustion testing machine is still constantly evolving. Some models are equipped with intelligent control systems that can automatically record data and analyze results, greatly improving testing efficiency. Some have put a lot of effort into safety protection, adding protective covers and smoke alarms, making operation more reassuring. In the future, I believe it will become more intelligent and precise, and on the road of ensuring cable safety, it will continue to "soar" and continue to safeguard our electricity safety in our daily lives.
