Conductor standards for cables
Date: 2021-09-19Read: 7

1 Scope

This standard specifies the conductors used for power cables and flexible cords with a nominal cross-sectional area of 0.5 mm2-500 mm2. The requirements for the number and size of single wires, as well as the resistance value, are also included. These conductors include solid and stranded copper, aluminum, and aluminum alloy conductors in fixed cables, as well as flexible copper conductors.

This standard does not apply to conductors used for communication purposes.

This standard applies to cables of specific designs, as long as the type of cable is specified in this standard.

Unless exceptions are specified in specific clauses, this standard pertains to conductors of finished cables, not conductors manufactured or provided for cable extrusion.

The informative appendices included in this standard provide supplementary information, including temperature correction coefficients for resistance measurements (Appendix B) and size ranges for circular conductors (Appendix C).

Solid conductor and stranded conductor

structure

Solid conductors (Type 1) shall be composed of one of the materials specified in Chapter 4;

Solid copper conductors should have a circular cross-section;

Note: Solid copper conductors with a nominal cross-sectional area of 25 mm2 or more are used for special types of cables, such as mineral insulated cables, rather than for general purposes.

What is the cross-sectional area of 10 mm2? Solid aluminum conductors and solid aluminum alloy conductors of 35 mm2 should have circular cross-sections. For single core cables, larger conductors should have a circular cross-section; For multi-core cables, they can have circular or molded cross-sections.

resistance

When measured according to Chapter 7, the resistance value of each conductor at 20 ° 0 should not exceed the maximum value specified in Table 1.

Note: For solid aluminum alloy conductors with the same nominal cross-sectional area as aluminum conductors, the resistance values given in Table 1 can be multiplied by a coefficient of 1.162, unless otherwise specified by the manufacturer and buyer.

Non tight twisted circular conductor (type 2)

structure

Non tight twisted circular conductors (type 2) shall be composed of one of the materials specified in Chapter 4;

The cross-sectional area of twisted conductors or alloy conductors should not be less than 10 mm2;

Each conductor's single wire should have the same nominal diameter;

The number of single wires per conductor should not be less than the corresponding minimum value specified in Table 2.

resistance

The resistance value of each conductor measured at 20 ° C should not exceed the maximum value specified in Table 2.

Tightly pressed twisted circular conductors and twisted formed conductors (Type 2)

structure

Tightly pressed twisted circular conductors and twisted formed conductors (type 2) shall be composed of one of the materials specified in Chapter 4. The nominal cross-sectional area of tightly twisted circular aluminum conductors or aluminum alloy conductors should not be less than 10 mm2. Stranded copper conductors, aluminum conductors, or aluminum alloy conductors

The nominal cross-sectional area of the body should not be less than 25 mm2.

The ratio of the diameters of different wires within the same conductor should not exceed 2.

The number of single wires in each conductor should not be less than the corresponding minimum value given in Table 2.

Note: This requirement applies to conductors composed of circular single wires before compression, rather than conductors composed of prefabricated single wires.
