Control of key processes in cable manufacturing process

1.1. Classification of Processes

The formation process of product quality includes multiple process steps, which are defined into three categories:

1.1.1 General process: a process that plays a general role in the quality of product formation;

1.1.2 Key processes: processes that play a crucial role in the formation of product quality, especially key performance quality;

1.1.3 Special process: a process whose results cannot pass subsequent inspections and tests, but can only be verified after use.

Process quality control is the fundamental point of process quality control and an important part of on-site quality control. Process quality control is to strengthen the general process quality control while adopting effective control methods to focus on key and special processes, ensuring that the processes are often in a controlled state

The key process refers to the process that affects the key characteristics of the product, that is, the process that has a significant impact on product quality.

 2. How to effectively control key processes

To establish key process control points, it is necessary to first grasp the key quality characteristics of the key process, and at the same time, transform the management "results" (quality characteristics) into management "factors" (process elements). Specifically, it refers to the application of quality analysis to identify the key quality characteristics of a product or component in critical processes. Secondly, use causal analysis diagrams and other methods to conduct process analysis, identify dominant process elements that affect key quality characteristics, and expand these elements until they are easy to manage. Afterwards, establish standards for these elements, assign responsibilities, and carry out key special management to ensure product or component quality. Generally, follow the following steps and requirements for operation:

2.1 Determine process control points

Prepare a detailed list of process control points. According to the classification of product quality characteristics, cable process specifications, and existing quality problems, the process control points that should be established on the production site of the product should be determined in accordance with the requirements of establishing management point rules, and a detailed list of process control points should be prepared.

2.2 Prepare relevant documents for process control points

Design and draw a control point process flowchart by the technical department. This diagram represents the location of process management points in the manufacturing process of a product or component. The technical department organizes process technicians and quality control personnel to conduct process analysis, identify dominant process elements that affect management points (quality characteristics), and after verification, include them in the process quality analysis table. This table is a basic table used in unit process design, which serves as the basis for writing process documents such as operation manuals, equipment cycle inspection cards, and tooling cycle inspection cards. The left half of it is the application system diagram method, which aims to ensure the quality characteristics of process products. It is unfolded by people, machines, materials, methods, and environments, and can be unfolded once, twice, or multiple times until it can be managed. When expanding, only expand the process elements that play a dominant role in ensuring the quality of the process products, or the process elements that require key special management. Process elements that can be managed according to conventional standards or regulations may not be included in this table for further development

The process department is responsible for formulating the operation standards and inspection procedures for process management points, and preparing operation manuals and process quality management point tables. A work instruction manual is a document that guides workers in the assembly industry. In large-scale production enterprises, it should be prepared for each process. In batch or small batch production enterprises, such documents are only prepared for key processes and management point establishment processes. The homework guidebook generally consists of two parts: "Process Diagram" and "Cable Process Parameters and Processing Method Explanation Column". The content should be as detailed and specific as possible, and based on this, the quality requirements of the process specifications can be achieved. The Process Quality Management Point Table (Self Inspection Table) is an inspection procedure used to guide operators in conducting quality inspections. For workpieces with simple structures, it can be printed together with the "Operation Manual" on one table; For parts with complex structures and multiple inspection items, a separate table can be printed; This type of table consists of two parts: process inspection diagram and table description.

2.3 Key special management of dominant process elements

Departments such as equipment, tools, metrology, inspection, production, and supply should develop management methods, application cycle inspection cards, and tooling cycle inspection cards for dominant process elements related to their department's functions in accordance with the requirements of the process quality table for key special management.

2.4 Establishing Control Measures

The quality management department should organize quality administrators and cable process personnel to collect data and perform calculations and processing; When the process is in a stable state, data recording tables and control charts or other forms of control measures should be established. 2.5 Establish key process control point management system and self inspection management system, and the system should clearly stipulate reward methods

2.6 Organize learning and familiarize oneself with regulations

Organize operators and inspectors to learn technical documents and regulations related to process management points, and pass exams to meet the requirements.

2.7 Creating Implementation Conditions

Organize relevant departments to study and solve the necessary conditions for implementing process management points, such as supplementing measuring instruments, adding workstation equipment, printing required charts, etc.

2.8 Organize implementation and conduct trial operation

In the implementation of organizing workers, all departments should closely cooperate, and the quality management department should diagnose and propose improvement suggestions.

2.9 Formally included in key process control

The technical department and quality management department jointly organize relevant personnel to review the adequacy, suitability, and effectiveness of key process control documents. Those that have passed the review will be officially included in the key process control. If they have not passed the review, improvements will be made
