Temperature sensors used in the pharmaceutical industry
Date: 2019-02-22Read: 12

Temperature and humidity sensorIt's just one type of sensor, which measures the temperature and humidity in the air through a certain detection device, and then converts it into electrical signals or other required forms of information output according to a certain pattern to meet user needs.

Below isTemperature and humidity sensorApplication in the pharmaceutical industry:

In the risk control of the pharmaceutical industry, sterilization effect is of paramount importance. Most sterilization uses thermal sterilization, so monitoring temperature data plays a significant role in the pharmaceutical industry. For sterile formulations, pharmaceutical industry standards require regular temperature validation. The heat penetration test directly reflects the sterilization effect of the sterilized product by converting the temperature value inside the sterilized product into the mortality rate.

Therefore, the accuracy requirements for temperature data collection are very high in the pharmaceutical industry. There are mainly two types of temperature sensors commonly used in the industry: T-couples in thermocouples and platinum resistors. It is usually recommended to use T-shaped dolls. The reason is that the T-type thermocouple is a thermocouple with good linearity in the low temperature range, and it is also a thermocouple with accuracy within 0.5 ℃ in the low temperature range. However, due to the use of two inexpensive metals, copper and constantan, T-shaped materials are prone to oxidation reactions at high temperatures, leading to accuracy drift. So the pharmacopoeia requires the use of T-type thermocouple sensors as validation hardware, which needs to be calibrated before and after each use to ensure that the accuracy of T-type thermocouples meets the requirements within the validated temperature range.

Platinum resistance sensors have a very good application solution in wet heat sterilization. Wet heat sterilization refers to the method of sterilization using saturated steam, boiling water, or circulating steam, using high-temperature and high-pressure steam as the medium. Due to the high latent heat and strong penetration of steam, it is easy to cause protein denaturation or coagulation, ultimately leading to the death of microorganisms. Platinum resistors have the advantages of high precision and strong stability, making them particularly suitable for use in the pharmaceutical industry where sterilization temperatures are controlled below 400 ℃. Due to the minimal annual accuracy drift of platinum resistors, there is no explicit requirement for pre - and post calibration when using platinum resistor sensors as verification temperature sensors.

With the increasing use of temperature sensors in the pharmaceutical industry, their related technologies have become mature. However, in user usage, differences in details can result in significantly different user experiences. Only by understanding the specific usage environment in the pharmaceutical industry can we better solve the problems faced by users.
