Whole vehicle salt spray testing laboratory applied in the automotive industry
Date: 2018-03-05Read: 10
Automotive whole vehicle salt spray test laboratoryAs an important inspection for cars, which are currently common means of transportation. As one of the important means of transportation, the quality of the surface coating of a car, in addition to its appearance, is a direct evaluation of its quality by people. However, cars are used in various corrosive environments, such as in North America, Western Europe, and other regions. In the harsh winter, salt or sand is sprinkled on the road to prevent the road from freezing and slipping after snowfall. This is a major test for car bodies that are mainly made of metal materials. Parts with incomplete coatings will experience corrosion perforation within a few months.
Painting, as one of the four major processes in vehicle manufacturing, is mainly used for corrosion prevention and decoration, and is the main engineering for rust prevention of the entire vehicle. Coating provides overall protection for the vehicle body through the application of highly corrosion-resistant coatings, increased electrophoretic permeability, increased film thickness of each coating, application of sealant to weld areas, and spraying of anti-corrosion wax. However, defects or deficiencies in the vehicle body structure, design, manufacturing, and other aspects can still make certain parts of the vehicle body more susceptible to corrosion than others. Therefore, it is necessary to identify, analyze, and take corresponding measures to protect these areas that are prone to corrosion during the painting process. It is important to apply these easily corroded parts to the development of new vehicle models, namely SE analysis, to discover and solve possible coating problems in the design stage, fundamentally improving the overall anti-corrosion ability of the vehicle.
The salt spray test chamber simulates the harsh atmospheric environment of electrophoretic paint films through scientific accelerated salt spray testing methods, thereby obtaining the ability of electrophoretic paint films with different film thicknesses, different parts, and different structures to withstand accelerated salt spray tests, and improving weak areas through analysis.
Accelerated salt spray test
1. Test board
The experimental sheet is cold-rolled sheet. Simulate the following representative areas separately: A electrophoretic paint film damage area; B welding points and weld bead locations; C folded edge adhesive part; D Nut and bolt parts; Mark the "X" area.
2. Experimental methods
Before the experiment, place the test panel upright to ensure sufficient sunlight on both sides. Use the prescribed blade to draw a "X" on the electrophoretic coating, requiring even force and touching the substrate. Spray all exposed surfaces of the test panel with a 3% NaCl solution every 4 hours, 4 times a day.
3. Basis for Testing Results
Visually compare the corrosion situation at different locations and measure the degree of unilateral expansion at the marked area.
4. Evaluation of experimental results
During the process of spraying saltwater, image recording was conducted at 24h, 80h, and 504h, and the following experimental results can be obtained from the image recording.
