In the field of industrial automation, actuators serve as the "power heart" of equipment, with electric, pneumatic, and electro-hydraulic actuators each having their own strengths. Electric actuators have high control accuracy but complex structure and slow response; Pneumatic actuators are safe and cost-effective, but they suffer from issues such as slow response and poor control accuracy.
The electro-hydraulic actuator cleverly integrates the simplicity of electric operation, powerful hydraulic power, and fast response, which can not only output greater thrust and control accuracy up to level 0.5, but also have high reliability and flexible configuration, making it the preferred solution under harsh working conditions.

Currently, the domestic market size of electro-hydraulic actuators is steadily growing and widely used in high demand industries such as petrochemicals. Especially in the strategic reserve field related to national energy security, large storage tanks store flammable and explosive finished oil, which puts almost stringent requirements on the thrust, response speed, and safety protection level of the actuator. Ordinary actuators are difficult to handle, and the characteristics of electro-hydraulic actuators are highly compatible with them.

In this context, the DHE intelligent electro-hydraulic actuator developed by Dinghua Electronics stood out and demonstrated its capabilities in a warehouse project of the National Reserve Hunan Bureau, using performance as a defense line for the safe operation of storage tanks.

National strategic reserve large storage tanks are mainly used to store flammable and explosive finished oil products, which have high risks. As a key control point of the storage tank, the tank root valve is the "safety gate" between the storage tank and the external pipeline system. Once the root valve of the tank malfunctions, it may cause medium leakage, leading to catastrophic accidents such as fire and explosion. Therefore, its reliability and response speed have become the core elements for the safe operation of the entire storage tank system.
Difficult problems and core requirements faced by customers
According to the engineer's in-depth understanding of the on-site working conditions, traditional electric actuators have exposed many problems when facing the complex working conditions of the root valve of a storage tank in a certain warehouse of the National Energy Storage Hunan Bureau
1. Insufficient thrust of traditional actuators
The diameter of the root valve of the storage tank in this enterprise is DN250, and the pipeline pressure is as high as 8MPa. Under such harsh working conditions, the thrust of traditional electric actuators is far from meeting the requirements.
In actual operation, valve opening and closing are difficult, and frequent jamming occurs, which not only seriously affects work efficiency but also increases the risk of equipment damage.
2. Delayed response to emergency shutdown
Traditional electric actuators have a response time exceeding 40 seconds during emergency shutdown (ESD) operations, which cannot meet user needs.
In the fast-paced security protection scenario, this means that in the event of an emergency, it is impossible to cut off the medium delivery in a timely manner, greatly increasing the risk of medium leakage, which may expand the scope of the accident and cause incalculable losses.
3. Failure to meet safety standards
The tank area belongs to Zone 1 explosive gas environment, which requires high explosion-proof performance of the actuator. However, the explosion-proof rating of traditional actuators' electrical components cannot meet the safety requirements of higher risk levels in the area.
After understanding the on-site working conditions for the first time, we clarified the core monitoring requirements with the user:
1. High torque: Control gate valve, valve diameter DN250, pipeline pressure 8MPa, requiring 32KN thrust;
2. Quick response: Emergency shutdown (ESD) action time<2s;
3. High reliability: operates year-round;
4 Strict safety standards: The actuator must meet IP68 protection level and Ex d IIC T4 explosion-proof certification, and also pass SIL3 safety certification to ensure the safe operation of the tank area.
