Ultrasonic level gaugeofFault sourcebecause
Liquid level measurement is very common in industrial production, mainly because in industrial production, some equipment has a reasonable height, which can affect the overall production efficiency. But with the development of technology, many liquid level measuring instruments are gradually being applied in these devices. Liquid level gauges are generally used to measure the liquid level of certain liquids, such as oil, water, solids, etc. Ultrasonic level gauge is a type of level gauge used in industries such as petroleum, chemical, and machinery. Ultrasonic level gaugeThe commonly used technology is ultrasonic transmission and reception echo technology, which also has high requirements for the measurement system. It requires accurate distance measurement, stable and reliable echo, and strong anti pollution ability. Below is an introduction to the ultrasonic level gaugeuseDuring the process, there may beSome of themFault.
1. Inaccurate measurement caused by ultrasonic propagation speed C
Due to the propagation speed of ultrasound in different mediaC is different. For example, at 0 o'clock, the propagation speed of sound waves in air is about 331 meters per second, and the propagation speed in water vapor is 403 meters per second. The propagation speed C also varies with changes in pressure and temperature. When the temperature is 100, the propagation speed of sound waves in air increases from 331 meters/second at 0 to 387 meters/second, with the measurement probe moving closer to the liquid surface. In this way, measurement errors caused by changes and uncertainties in propagation speed C must be reduced through physical calibration or pressure and temperature compensation. There are now many measuring probes with pressure and temperature compensation functions. When the pressure and temperature are stable, they can also be directly compensated by setting the pressure and temperature values to the current values.
2. The fluctuation of power supply voltage leads to inaccurate measurement
For a single probe measuring device, both the transmitter and receiver use the same measuring probe. Therefore, when transmitting ultrasonic waves, when a high excitation voltage is applied to the probe, the blind spot distance will increase, which may exceed the measurement range; When the voltage on the probe is too low, due to the long measurement distance, it may not receive a return signal, resulting in abnormal operation or measurement errors. At this point, it is necessary to adjust the power supply voltage to the rated value to ensure that the probe works properly.
3. The selected measurement range is not suitable
Due to the existence of blind spots and attenuation during the propagation of ultrasonic waves, there is a certain measurement range for measuring liquid levels using ultrasonic waves, but there are no limitations. Therefore, suitable probes and working modes should be selected.
4. Measurement of faults caused by propagation media
In measurement, when the propagation medium contains large liquid droplet particles, ultrasound will scatter and reflect when encountering these droplets, and these droplets will also absorb ultrasound, causing ultrasound attenuation and resulting in measurement errors or rendering the measurement probe inoperable. This phenomenon is quite common in northern China, especially during winter. When these droplets adhere to the surface of the measuring probe, the harm will be greater. On the one hand, the measuring probe will not work; On the other hand, if the time is too long, droplets may corrode the surface of the probe, making the measuring probe unusable. Therefore, timely ventilation and wiping should be carried out, and filtering devices should be installed. A protective cover should be installed on the measuring probe. When the droplet particles are small and not attached to the probe surface, it can also be solved by using high-power probes or dual probe measurement methods.
5. Malfunctions caused by measuring liquid level
When other impurities adhere to the measured liquid level or the liquid level is very irregular, ultrasonic waves encounter diffuse reflection or beam reflection in other directions, but the ultrasonic waves returned to the measuring probe are very few, exceeding the sensitivity range of the measuring probe, resulting in the measuring probe being unable to measure the beam, unable to reflect, and unable to work normally. At this point, a wire enclosure should be placed below the measuring probe to enclose the well.
6. Malfunctions caused by installation methods
Ultrasonic level gauges have blind spots, just like the human eye. Blind spot is when an object is very close to the eye but cannot be seen clearly. This distance is called a blind spot.
The blind spot of ultrasonic level gauge varies depending on the range. The smaller the range, the smaller the blind spot; the larger the range, the larger the blind spot. But usuallyBetween 30cm and 50cm. Therefore, the installation of ultrasonic level gauges must consider blind spots.
Measurement probe of ultrasonic level gaugeThe sensor should be installed vertically in a suitable position. When the installation is tilted, the ultrasonic beam emitted by the measuring probe will be reflected in other directions. At this point, the measuring probe cannot function properly without receiving the ultrasound beam, so it should be calibrated and reinstalled. When the measuring probe is too close or too far from the liquid level, it can also affect the measurement. Therefore, the measuring probe should be installed at a suitable position away from the liquid level, so that the range of liquid level height changes is within the measuring range of the measuring probe, and the highest liquid level should be within the blind zone.
