The installation of external clamp ultrasonic flowmeter requires three core conditions: pipeline conditions, sensor installation, and environmental requirements to ensure measurement accuracy.
Pipeline foundation conditions
This is a prerequisite for ensuring accurate measurement, and failure to meet the conditions will directly lead to data deviation.
1.Pipe materialFor materials that can transmit ultrasonic waves, metal pipes (such as carbon steel, stainless steel, cast iron) or hard plastic pipes (such as PVCTheUPVC). Prohibited for pipelines with severe ultrasonic attenuation such as concrete pipes and fiberglass pipes.
2. Pipe specificationsThe diameter range needs to be matched with the flowmeter model, and the general applicable range is DN20 - DN6000Please refer to the equipment manual for details.
Suggested wall thickness for pipelines 4mm - 20mmBetween them, excessive thickness can affect signal strength.
3. Fluid stateThe fluid needs to be in a full tube state, and not filling the tube will result in low measurement values or no data.
To avoid large amounts of bubbles, impurities, or turbulence in the pipeline, it is recommended to install it away from equipment that is prone to disturbance such as pumps and valves.
Sensor installation requirements
The installation position and method of sensors directly determine the measurement accuracy and must be strictly followed Principle of "straight pipe section" and "installation spacing".
1. straight pipe section requirementsThe length of the upstream straight pipe section should be greater than 10 Double the diameter of the pipe(10D)Ensure stable flow of fluid into the measurement area. The length of the downstream straight pipe section should be greater than5 Double the diameter of the pipe(5D)Reduce the impact of fluid disturbance on measurement. If the above requirements cannot be met, it is necessary to increase the length of the straight pipe section as much as possible, or choose“VThe installation method (applicable to small pipe diameters) is used to reduce errors.
2. Installation method: ZDirect method: suitable for larger pipe diameters (usuallyDN>100)For pipelines with thin wall thickness, sensors are installed on both sides of the pipeline, and ultrasonic waves are directly transmitted through the fluid.VReflection method: suitable for small pipe diameters (usuallyDN≤100)Or for pipelines with thicker walls, ultrasonic waves reflect on the inner wall of the pipeline and pass through the fluid.
3. Installation steps:
1. Clean the surface of the pipeline, remove rust, paint and other debris, and ensure that the sensor is tightly attached to the pipeline.
2. Apply a specialized coupling agent on the bottom surface of the sensor to eliminate air and enhance the efficiency of ultrasonic transmission.
3. Fix the sensor with a dedicated fixture Avoid looseness and ensure that the central axes of the two sensors are on the same horizontal line. 3、 Environmental and auxiliary requirements Adverse environments can interfere with signal transmission and should be avoided in advance.
1.ambient temperatureThe working environment temperature of sensors is usually - 30℃- 60℃, avoid long-term exposure to high temperature, high humidity, or direct sunlight.
2.Electromagnetic interference:Stay away from strong electromagnetic equipment such as frequency converters and high-voltage cables to prevent electromagnetic signals from interfering with ultrasonic transmission.
3.Others: The installation location should be convenient for later maintenance and reading, avoiding high altitude, narrow or dangerous areas. If the pipeline has insulation layer, it is necessary to cut off part of the insulation layer at the location where the sensor is installed, and then redo the insulation treatment after installation.
