In 2010, the Ministry of Transport of China issued the industry standard "Technical Specification for Refrigerant Recovery, Purification, and Filling of Automotive Air Conditioning" (JT/T774-2010). The transportation department is promoting and implementing this standard, and major repair enterprises across the country are vigorously promoting it. More and more vocational schools have also recognized this trend. In 2011, the finals of the "2011 Toyota Cup" National Vocational School Automotive Application and Maintenance Skills Competition, jointly organized by the Ministry of Education, the Ministry of Transport, and the Tianjin Municipal People's Government, and hosted by the China Association of Automobile Maintenance Industry and the Tianjin Municipal Education Commission, were held in Tianjin. In addition to the four items of secondary maintenance, wheel alignment, body repair, and body painting, the Automotive Application and Maintenance Skills Competition has also added a personal invitation competition for automotive air conditioning maintenance. Participants are required to correctly use the provided equipment, instruments, and tools to complete various operational processes such as identification, recovery, purification, and filling of automotive air conditioning refrigerants. The purpose is to promote the transportation industry standard "Technical Specification for Recycling, Purification, and Filling of Automotive Air Conditioning Refrigerants" (JT/T774-2010), promote the popularization of the "green maintenance" environmental protection concept in China's automotive maintenance industry, and promote the healthy development of the automotive maintenance industry.
The main purpose of the car air conditioning maintenance competition is to enable students to correctly use equipment, instruments, and tools to complete various operational processes such as identifying, recovering, purifying, and adding air conditioning refrigerants to cars.
The competition requires measuring tools, accessories, and equipment mainly including: automotive air conditioning diagnostic instrument, fluorescent leak detector, electronic halogen leak detector, refrigerant identification instrument, refrigerant recovery and filling machine, anemometer, hygrometer, dual channel thermometer, automotive multimeter, air conditioning pressure gauge group, automotive fault diagnosis instrument, belt tension gauge. All of the above equipment is sponsored by SPX Spirk Electromechanical Products (Suzhou) Co., Ltd. Beijing Tongtaichang Automotive Maintenance Equipment Co., Ltd. is the general agent for the North China region.

Although outdated maintenance methods and processes cannot be replaced by advanced maintenance processes and technologies in a day, high-level design of teaching modes and close integration of knowledge, technology, and skills required for future development with regular teaching and practical training are currently advocated and implemented by education departments.
