CECertified low-temperature power cables are widely used in industrial distribution networks and building facilities in extremely cold regions such as Northern Europe and Canada due to their low-temperature resistance and reliable safety. The installation quality directly affects the operational stability of the cable in low-temperature environments. This article systematically elaborates on the installation points of low-temperature power cables from four aspects: pre installation preparation, laying process, connection treatment, and acceptance standards.
1、 Preparation before installation: Environmental and material compatibility verification
The installation of low-temperature cables requires strict evaluation of environmental conditions. Before construction, it is necessary to confirm that the on-site temperature is not lower than0℃If the ambient temperature is below this threshold, a closed greenhouse should be built and an electric heater should be used to heat it up10-15℃At the same time, set up ventilation devices to prevent moisture accumulation. After the cable arrives at the site, it is strictly prohibited to immediately open the box and lay it. It must be placed in a ventilated temporary shed24-48Gradually bring the cable temperature closer to the ambient temperature to avoid insulation layer cracking caused by thermal stress. In addition, it is necessary to check the sealing status of cable ports and replace damaged low-temperature resistant sealing caps to prevent moisture from infiltrating and causing frost heave damage.
Construction tools and auxiliary materials need to be adapted to low-temperature environments. Equipment such as pulleys and guide frames need to be coated with low-temperature resistant grease to ensure smooth operation; The inner diameter of the pipeline must not be less than the outer diameter of the cable1.5When multiple cables are threaded through a conduit, the total area must not exceed the total area inside the conduit40%To prevent twisting and squeezing. For outdoor installation scenarios, it is necessary to clear the snow on the path in advance and lay dry grass curtains or waterproof colored strips under the cables to avoid direct contact with ice and snow.
2、 Laying process: gentle operation and bending radius control
The flexibility of cables significantly decreases in low-temperature environments, and it is necessary to follow the guidelines when laying them“Slow traction, large radius bending”principle. The traction speed should be reduced compared to construction at room temperature30%The traction tension needs to be reduced compared to the standard at room temperature20%It is recommended to install a tension meter at the traction end for real-time monitoring to prevent conductor breakage or sheath tearing. Bending radius control is a key indicator, and during winter laying, the bending radius of the cable needs to be increased compared to room temperature50%Among them, low-voltage power cables with a diameter not less than the cable diameter15Multiple, control cable not less than20Double, right angle bending is strictly prohibited. A curved guide frame should be built with wooden boards at the turning point, and the corners should be rounded to prevent sharp areas from cutting and brittle cable sheaths.
3、 Connection processing: sealing and anti-interference enhancement
Cable joints are high-risk areas for faults in low-temperature environments. When connecting, it is necessary to ensure that the end is flat, and use specialized crimping tools to fix the wiring terminals to prevent poor contact from causing electrical sparks. The joint should adopt a double-layer sealing process: the inner layer is filled with low-temperature resistant silicone sealant to fill the gap, the outer layer is wrapped with waterproof tape and equipped with rock wool insulation sheath, and the thickness of the insulation layer is not less than2cm, forming“seal+insulation”Double protection. For outdoor joints, regular infrared temperature testing is also required. If the temperature is found to be abnormally low, the machine should be stopped immediately to check for internal icing.
4、 Acceptance Specification: Performance Testing and Archive Traceability
After installation, insulation resistance test and AC power frequency withstand voltage test should be conducted, and if necessary, low temperature environment can be simulated for retesting. The acceptance documents should include cable model specifications, laying path diagrams, joint position records, and test data, and establish a full lifecycle traceability file. For buried cables, permanent identification stakes should be set up on the ground to mark the cable direction and depth information for easy maintenance in the future.
CEThe installation of certified low-temperature power cables requires“Environmental adaptation, fine craftsmanship, and strict protection”As the core, through standardized operating procedures and full cycle management, the risks of embrittlement and frost heave caused by low temperatures can be effectively reduced, providing reliable guarantee for power supply in extremely cold areas.
