Technical parameters and precautions for CE certified low-temperature instrument cables
Date: 2025-04-17Read: 5
  1、 Technical parameters
CE certified low-temperature instrument cables are designed specifically for industrial and mining enterprises, energy and transportation departments, as well as control and protection circuits with rated voltages below 450/750 volts. The following are its main technical parameters:
  1. rated voltageU0/U is 450/750V, which meets the requirements of most low-voltage control systems.
  2. Conductor coreCopper core is used, with nominal cross-sections ranging from 2.5mm ² to 10mm ². The number of wire cores is diverse and can be selected according to demand.
  3. Operating TemperatureThe long-term working temperature of the conductor core of the cable is 70 ℃ (there is also an option of 95 ℃), and the cable laying temperature is generally not lower than 0 ℃. Within a wide temperature range of -60 ℃ to+45 ℃ (some specific models can reach -20 ℃ to+120 ℃), the cable can still maintain good performance.
  4. Insulation and sheathThe cable adopts polyvinyl chloride (PVC) insulation and sheath to ensure good electrical performance and physical protection.
  5. bend radiusThe recommended bending radius varies depending on the cable type. For unarmored cables, it should not be less than 6 times the outer diameter of the cable. For armored or copper tape shielded cables, it should not be less than 12 times the outer diameter of the cable. For shielded flexible cables, it should not be less than 6 times the outer diameter of the cable.
  6. Electrical performance:
DC resistanceAt 20 ℃, the resistance of 0.4mm ² copper wire is less than or equal to 148 Ω/km, and the resistance of 0.5mm ² copper wire is less than or equal to 95 Ω/km.
Insulation electrical strengthBetween conductors, there is no breakdown at 1kV for 1 minute, and between conductors and shields, there is no breakdown at 3kV for 1 minute.
insulation resistanceWhen each core wire is grounded with the other cores, the insulation resistance of the control cable is greater than 10000M Ω· km.
Working capacitorThe average value is 52 ± 2nF/km.
Remote Crosstalk DefenseAt 150kHz, the average power of the specified combination is greater than 69dB/km.
  2、 Precautions
To ensure the optimal performance of CE certified low-temperature instrument cables during installation and use, the following points should be noted:
  1. temperature environmentCables should be avoided from use under extreme temperature changes, especially in environments below the laying temperature, to avoid affecting their performance stability. Meanwhile, when used in high-temperature environments, it is necessary to ensure that the maximum operating temperature of the cable is not exceeded.
  2. Mechanical protectionDuring installation, it is necessary to avoid strong mechanical impacts to prevent cable damage. At the same time, the bending radius of the cable should meet the specified requirements to avoid structural damage caused by excessive bending.
  3. Wiring planningWhen wiring cables, they should be kept as far away as possible from heat sources and humid environments to avoid the impact of temperature changes on cable performance. At the same time, direct exposure of cables to sunlight should be avoided to prevent UV aging.
  4. Joint processingAt the cable joint, a dedicated joint box or connector should be used to ensure the insulation and sealing performance of the joint. At the same time, the joint should be kept away from heat sources and humid environments to extend the service life of the cable.
  5. regular inspectionRegularly inspect cables and replace them promptly if aging, damage, or performance degradation is found to ensure stable operation of the system.
  6. Installation method:
under the eavesIn environments that are not directly exposed to sunlight or ultra-high temperatures, standard LAN cables can be used, but it is recommended to use pipes for protection.
On the exterior wallAvoid direct sunlight on the wall and human damage. At the same time, pay attention to the temperature of the cable inside the metal conduit or trunking.
Inside the pipelinePay attention to the damage of plastic pipes and the thermal conductivity of metal pipes. At the same time, it is necessary to regularly check the humidity inside the pipeline.
Suspended applicationConsider cable sag and pressure, and avoid direct sunlight exposure.
Underground cable trenchAfter installation, regular checks for dryness or moisture levels should be conducted. If the shielding layer needs to be grounded, relevant standards must be followed.
Underground pipelineAuxiliary pipelines can facilitate future upgrades and cable replacements, but it is important to keep the pipelines dry.
CE certified low-temperature instrument cables play an important role in industrial automation and control systems due to their excellent performance and wide range of applications. Understanding and following the above technical parameters and precautions will help ensure the stability and reliability of cables during installation and use.
