Selected as one of the 60 major scientific and engineering technical problems by the China Association for Science and Technology

At the 20th Annual Meeting of the China Association for Science and Technology held recently, the association released 60 major scientific and engineering technical problems. The topic of "Key Technologies of Future Energy Internet" written by the Energy Internet Development Cooperation Organization was selected.

The 60 major scientific and engineering technical problems involve 12 fields including earth science, public safety, transportation, aerospace technology, energy and environment, and intelligent manufacturing. They have been praised by Li Hong, Vice Chairman of the China Association for Science and Technology and academician of the Chinese Academy of Astronautics, as the true "hard bones" in China's scientific and technological field. The 7 problems selected in the field of energy and environment focus on electric energy storage, carbon storage in marine ecosystem, biodiversity maintenance, safe disposal of radioactive waste, hydrogen production technology and energy Internet. The topic of "Key Technologies of the Future Energy Internet" proposed five key technologies to comprehensively improve the security, economy and adaptability of the energy Internet, namely submarine cable, flexible DC transmission, large capacity energy storage, virtual synchronization technology and the new generation power market.

To build an energy internet is to build a transnational and transcontinental power transmission channel based on the power grids of various countries and relying on ultra-high voltage AC and DC transmission technology, connect major power production centers, regulation centers and consumption centers, realize the production, configuration and utilization of clean energy, and obtain huge networking benefits such as multi energy complementation, cross time zone mutual aid, cross season mutual adjustment, etc. Among them, cross sea and polar power transmission will mainly rely on DC submarine cable transmission technology, and breakthroughs in ultra-high voltage flexible DC transmission technology will lay the technical foundation for the development and utilization of large-scale renewable energy and the implementation of flexible interconnection of cross regional power grids. At the same time, accelerating the development of high-capacity pumped storage and compressed air energy storage, exploring new technologies such as lithium air batteries and graphene batteries, is conducive to further increasing capacity and reducing costs; Studying high-capacity virtual synchronous power generation technology can improve the ability of new energy grid integration regulation and maintain grid stability. In addition, in order to safeguard the interests of market members, maintain the standardized operation of the electricity market, avoid market risks, and improve market efficiency, it is necessary to research and construct a regulatory mechanism and system for electricity market operation, and study technologies such as intercontinental electricity trading simulation and deduction.

It is reported that since January 2018, the China Association for Science and Technology has organized the "China Association for Science and Technology 2018 Major Scientific Issues and Engineering Technology Difficulties Collection Activity", which aims to meet the major strategic needs of the country, analyze the trends of future scientific and technological development, seize breakthroughs in scientific and technological innovation, plan strategic high points, layout cutting-edge scientific and technological fields, and promote the construction of a world science and technology power. 33 academicians and experts participated in the final selection of the solicitation activity, and the results will be compiled into the book "2018 Major Scientific Issues and Engineering Technical Problems" for publication. The China Association for Science and Technology will organize think tanks to conduct research, and the Chinese scientific and technological community will strengthen research on tackling the selected challenges.
