Common problems with relays

1、 The relay cannot be turned on (1) if the load current is greater than the rated switching current of the SSR, it will cause a short circuit in the relay. In this case, an SSR with a higher rated current should be used. (2) At the ambient temperature where the relay is located, poor heat dissipation for the current it is subjected to can damage the output semiconductor devices. In this case, larger or more effective heat sinks should be used. (3) When the line voltage transient causes the SSR output part to pass through, a higher rated voltage SSR should be used or additional transient protection circuits should be provided. (4) The line voltage used is higher than the rated voltage of SSR. 2、 Cut off the input before disconnecting the SSR. When the SSR should be disconnected, measure the input voltage. If the measured voltage is lower than the required release voltage, it indicates that the release voltage of the circuit breaker is too low and the relay should be replaced. If the measured voltage is higher than the required release voltage of the SSR, it is a problem with the circuit in front of the SSR input terminal and must be corrected. 3、 Relay not conducting (1) When the relay should be conducting, measure the input voltage. If the voltage is lower than the required operating voltage, it indicates that there is a problem with the circuit in front of the SSR input terminal; If the input voltage is higher than the required operating voltage, check the polarity of the power supply and correct it if necessary. (2) Measure the input current of SSR. If there is no current, it is an open circuit of SSR and the relay is faulty; If there is current but below the operating value of the relay, it is a problem with the circuit in front of the SSR and must be corrected. Relay (3): Check the input part of the SSR and measure the voltage at both ends of the SSR output. If the voltage is below 1V, it indicates that the circuit or load outside the relay is open and should be repaired; If there is a line voltage, it may be a load short circuit, causing excessive current and resulting in relay failure.
