There have been new achievements in the research of China's new radar system. According to a recent paper published in the academic journal "Low Temperature and Superconductivity" by the 38th Institute of China Electronics Technology Group Corporation, the institute is developing a new concept radar that uses microwave quantum theory and must operate at extremely cold temperatures. It can detect objects up to 15 million kilometers away, which is nearly 40 times the distance between the Earth and the Moon.

According to 38, this radar can be mainly used in China's planetary defense system to detect unknown asteroids or other objects that may be missed by other detection methods. Of course, it is also possible to use it to explore distant spacecraft.

The working principle of this radar can be said to have changed our understanding of traditional radar. Before introducing this new concept radar, let's first introduce the working principle of traditional radar, as well as the principles of quantum radar and microwave photon radar that have been announced in China in the past few years. Then we will introduce the revolutionary aspect of this microwave quantum radar from the 38th Institute of Electronic Science and Technology of China.

Firstly, traditional radar relies on radio waves to operate, with microwaves referring to radio waves with wavelengths between 1 millimeter and 1 meter. Traditional radar emits radio waves in the direction of the target through an antenna. Some of the radio waves are reflected back by the target and then received by the radar's receiving antenna. After calculation, the distance and direction of the target can be obtained.
