卡尔费休水分的测试方法

Karl Fischer moisture testThere are two methods, namely Karl Fischer capacity method and Karl Fischer Coulomb method.

The Karl Fischer titration method uses Karl Fischer reagent as the standard solution, and when the Karl Fischer reagent comes into contact with the sample, it undergoes a quantitative reaction with the moisture in the sample. Calculate the moisture content of the sample by consuming the volume of standard solution.

The Karl Fischer Coulomb method involves the direct production of iodine from the electrolysis electrode in the Karl Fischer reaction. Calculate the moisture content of the sample using the quantitative relationship between the amount of electricity required for electrolyzing iodine and iodine. Coulombic method is used for measurement, without the need to determine the titration degree.

The difference between the two methods is that the iodine in the volumetric method comes from the titration reagent, while the iodine in the Coulombic method is generated by electrolyzing an electrolyte containing iodine ions. Because the amount of electricity in the electrolytic cell has a strict quantitative relationship with the iodine content, the measurement accuracy of the Coulombic method is higher than that of the volumetric method. The speed and analysis process of the Coulombic method are faster and more accurate than those of the volumetric method. The Karl Fischer method for testing water content is applicable to the determination of water content in many inorganic and organic compounds.
