Early detection and localization of potential faults are crucial in the maintenance and repair of power cables. Traditional detection methods, such as DC withstand voltage testing, although widely used, may cause hidden damage to cables or generate false partial discharge signals in certain situations. To this end, we have introduced a new detection method: the Oscillatory Wave Cable Partial Discharge Diagnosis and Localization System (OWTS system).
The oscillation wave cable partial discharge diagnosis and positioning system, abbreviated as OWTS system, provides a new solution for the condition maintenance of power cables. This method diagnoses and locates by applying a direct current voltage and utilizing partial discharge under damped oscillation wave conditions.
However, we are not satisfied with this. In order to further improve the accuracy and reliability of detection, we have developed an AC damping oscillation wave partial discharge testing device. This device uses an AC high voltage source and adds a peak synchronization signal to the AC variable frequency series resonant withstand voltage device to stop the power output of the series resonant circuit at the peak, and simultaneously closes the high-voltage electronic switch to form oscillation wave damping oscillation, thus conducting cable partial discharge testing.
This system can not only reliably detect weak insulation defects in cables and cable joints, but also accurately locate them. Its performance and characteristics are as follows:
The equipment can perform both partial discharge tests and AC withstand voltage tests, making it a dual-use device that greatly improves equipment efficiency.
Suitable for new cable handover testing and preventive testing of old cables.
Follow the IEC60270 standard to measure the local discharge of cables.
Measure the distance of cable discharge points.
Measure the position and total distance of cable joints.
The variable frequency host can automatically boost the voltage according to the relevant regulations of State Grid, and the laptop system can automatically collect data, which is simple and convenient.
The combination of hardware and software anti-interference technology can effectively remove external interference.
The software expert system displays parameters such as partial discharge waveform, discharge amount, and test voltage, and has functions such as real-time saving of test data, generation of test reports, and printing.
In addition, we also provide technical parameters for reference:
