Magnetic flap level gauge is a commonly used level measuring instrument. In practical on-site operation and application, some faults may occur. Some of these faults are caused by single component failures, while others are caused by multiple component failures simultaneously. The common faults and their causes of magnetic flap level gauges are analyzed as follows

1: Display panel shows abnormality
The reasons for this malfunction are usually as follows:
① The gap design between the flipper and the guide rail is unreasonable or too small, resulting in excessive friction and the flipper not flipping;
② The distance between the display panel and the float is too large, and the magnetic driving force of the float is insufficient, resulting in the flipping of the flap not flipping;
③ The magnetic steel in the flip is too small or the magnetic force disappears, causing the flip to not flip or flip abnormally;
④ Impurities such as water or dust seep into the display panel, making it difficult to flip the panel over;
⑤ The ambient temperature is too low, causing the medium to freeze and the float to be unable to move, resulting in the flap not displaying the liquid level properly.
2: Local display is normal, remote transmission display is abnormal
There are usually several reasons that can cause this type of malfunction:
① Domestic glass tube reed switches are fragile, and short circuits or open circuits in reed switches can cause abnormal long-distance transmission;
② Resistance virtual welding;
③ The gap between the metal contacts of the reed switch is very small. When the medium temperature is too high, the metal sheet expands when it is heated, which easily leads to a closed state;
④ The pressure exceeds the rated value, causing damage to the switch.
3: Neither the remote transmission nor the magnetic flip board moves
This fault phenomenon is usually caused by abnormal float, and there are two manifestations:
Phenomenon 1: The float is stuck, causing the display panel to indicate incorrectly
Fault analysis: The float in the magnetic flap level gauge is stuck, usually due to the following reasons:
① After a period of use, the float may get stuck due to the presence of impurities and cannot rise or fall;
② The installation angle of the float is less than 87 degrees, which causes tilting and affects the up and down movement of the float;
③ The float gets stuck due to its magnetic adsorption of iron filings or other contaminants;
④ The ambient temperature is too low, causing the medium to freeze and the float to be unable to move.
Phenomenon 2: The float is damaged, resulting in incorrect indication on the display panel
Fault analysis: The float in the magnetic flap level gauge is damaged, usually due to the following reasons:
① Due to incorrect strength design, the float sinks inward and becomes deflated when subjected to excessive pressure;
② Lack of penetration or leakage at the welding point causes the weld seam to crack when the float is under pressure, leading to water ingress into the float;
③ The float may experience demagnetization due to prolonged use or high temperature, resulting in its inability to function;
④ The magnetic steel in the float is loose, causing the float to malfunction.
Suggestions for using magnetic flap level gauge
① When installing the magnetic flap level gauge, it should be installed vertically to ensure that the float can move freely up and down inside the main tube.
② The magnetic flap level gauge body should not be surrounded by magnetic conductors, otherwise it will directly affect the normal operation of the level gauge.
③ Install a shut-off valve between the magnetic flap level gauge and the container as much as possible for daily maintenance and repair.
④ After the installation of the magnetic flap level gauge is completed, it needs to be calibrated with magnetic steel to ensure uniform magnetism.
⑤ When the magnetic flap level gauge is put into operation, the valve of the lower inlet pipe should be opened first to allow the liquid medium to smoothly enter the main pipe, avoiding the rapid rise of the liquid medium with the float, which may cause the flap to malfunction and flip randomly. If this phenomenon occurs, the magnetic steel can be used to recalibrate after the liquid level is stable.
