What are the methods for coal hydrogenation liquefaction?

The hydrogenation of coal is divided into two methods: mild hydrogenation and deep hydrogenation.

Mild hydrogenation is the process of combining coal with a small amount of hydrogen under mild reaction conditions. The appearance of coal remains unchanged, and the elemental composition changes little. However, many properties of coal have undergone significant changes, such as the cohesiveness of low metamorphic bituminous coal and high metamorphic bituminous coal, and the solubility in anthracene oil has greatly increased, approaching that of medium metamorphic bituminous coal.

Deep hydrogenation is the reaction of coal with more hydrogen under intense reaction conditions, converting it into liquid products and a small amount of gaseous hydrocarbons.
