Analysis of Reasons for High Oil Temperature in Hydraulic System
According to the working principle of hydraulic systems, there are two parts that generate heat in the system: one is the power component oil pump that converts mechanical energy into pressure energy, and the other is the control and execution components that convert pressure energy into mechanical energy; Both of these parts generate heat under normal working conditions, which is cooled by the system's cooling system. Therefore, when one or several of these components are not working properly, it will cause the oil temperature of the system to rise.
1. Cooling system malfunction
Generally, hydraulic systems with high flow rates are equipped with cooling systems, and most of them use water cooling. Its basic principle is to exchange heat between low-temperature water and high-temperature hydraulic oil to continuously remove the heat generated in the hydraulic system, keeping the temperature of the hydraulic system within a relatively constant range.
There are several types of faults in the cooling system:
A、 The cooling water is not connected or the inlet water temperature is higher than the system oil temperature, which does not allow for heat exchange with the hydraulic oil.
B、 The internal scaling of the cooler (heat exchanger) leads to a decrease in cooling efficiency, which prevents the hydraulic oil temperature from being maintained at a normal level.
2. Internal leakage in the system
The internal leakage of the system is divided into internal leakage of power components, internal leakage of control components, and internal leakage of execution components.
Internal leakage of power components: The internal leakage of power components (generally referring to hydraulic pumps or hydraulic motors) is mainly caused by the mutual wear between moving parts (such as blades and pump inner walls). Taking blade pumps as an example, once the wear of blades and pump inner walls or with the distribution plate reaches a certain degree, some hydraulic oil will flow directly along the worn gaps, instead of moving through the pressure chamber formed by the distribution plate. In this way, the kinetic energy output by the motor will be greatly converted into thermal energy, causing the system oil temperature to rapidly rise. The characteristic of this type of fault is that the oil temperature and the temperature of the power components themselves increase significantly, while the system pressure drops significantly.
Internal leakage of control components: Internal leakage of control components can be divided into two types: internal leakage of a single control valve and internal leakage of a group of valves due to improper pressure regulation. The internal leakage of a single control valve is generally caused by component wear, and the valve itself may experience a sharp increase in temperature, which is relatively easy to determine; Internal leakage caused by improper pressure regulation is relatively difficult to determine and requires systematic analysis.
Internal leakage of actuator: The internal leakage of actuator is generally easy to determine, often accompanied by a sharp increase in the temperature of the actuator itself and a decrease in its ability to perform work. This is particularly evident in hydraulic motors and cylinders.
