It is designed for use in high-risk, complex, and challenging environments such as specific factories, warehouses, and large retail stores (supermarkets), and is suitable for a wider range of temperatures.

The Cisco Aironet 1230AG supports Cisco IOS software and utilizes the Cisco Structured Wireless Ware Network (SWAN) architecture to fully connect end-to-end wired to wireless links. The simplified deployment of Cisco SWAN architecture utilizing wireless network management features makes it very easy to configure security and link characteristics.

By using both the Cisco Aironet 1230AG 802.11a and 802.11g standards, the total wireless transmission can reach 108Mbps and can switch between 5GHz and 2.4GHz alternately.

The Cisco Aironet 1230AG series uses Cisco's most advanced security suite, which supports 802.11i, Wi Fi Protected Access 2 (WPA2), WPA, and numerous security extended authentication protocols (EPA).
