Principle of Contact Microwave Moisture Meter:
Adopting the principle of high capacitance wave penetration. The difference in dielectric constant or relative dielectric constant of each material can be used to directly measure the dielectric constant of the relevant material and calculate the water content. Then output a standard signal (0-20mA or 0-10VDC) with the moisture content of the material as a percentage by mass. The relative dielectric constant of water, ε r=80, is about 1-10 for most other materials. For example, the ε r value of gravel is between 3-4. There is a significant difference in dielectric constant between water (80) and the material being measured (1-10), with a relative dielectric constant of ε r.
The higher the water or humidity content in the material, the closer the relative dielectric constant ε r value is to 80, making it easier to measure. Whether it is the tested material on a fast flowing production line or a stationary tested material, as long as the material passes through the sensor probe, the ε r signal can be measured, and the moisture measurement value can be calculated. Depending on the material and its properties, the sensor probe can measure depths ranging from approximately 150mm to 200mm.
The moisture measured and analyzed is the total moisture, which includes the core moisture and surface moisture of the tested material. The microwave principle measures the moisture inside and outside the material, and the sensor probe has high penetration, so the accumulated dirt on the surface of the material will not affect the measurement results.
