Jig 5300 Linear Drying Time Recorder

The Engel 5300 measures the drying time of coatings using up to 10 synchronous test points (5 on each side of the central column) recorded in straight lines.

Ten scratching rods with hemispherical contacts, installed on the carriage. The scraper is driven by the carriage and comes into contact with the new coating layer. Starting from one end, it moves longitudinally on the sample.

The moving distance of the contact point during the drying time is calculated. The movement distance can be measured by the scale on the edge of the instrument, corresponding to each drying stage of the observed trajectory.

The coating is pre coated on a glass strip with a width of 25mm (0.98 ") and a length of 700mm (27.5"), and five types of coatings can be applied simultaneously on one glass plate using the Jig 3505 Cube Coating Machine series.
After the trip is over, the drying time recorder will automatically stop
The load on each ball contact point is 11g (0.37oz), which can be increased to 21g (0.71oz) by adding weights.

How to use a linear drying time recorder

The linear drying time recorder uses the following formula to calculate the drying time:

Distance=speed x time

A spherical contact point is placed inside the coating to be tested, and the drying time recorder begins to move the ball at a pre-set speed. When the coating dries, the traces left by the spherical tip in the coating indicate various stages of the curing process.
