Solenoid valve is an industrial equipment controlled by electromagnetic force, which is an automation basic component used to control fluids. It belongs to actuators and is not limited to hydraulic and pneumatic systems. It is used in industrial control system to adjust the direction, flow, speed and other parameters of medium. Electromagnetic valves can be used in conjunction with different circuits to achieve the desired control, while ensuring the accuracy and flexibility of the control. There are many types of solenoid valves, and different solenoid valves play a role in different positions of the control system. The basic ones are one-way valves, safety valves, directional control valves, speed regulating valves, etc.

1、 Working principle
Electromagnetic drive:
After the coil is energized, a magnetic field is generated, which attracts the valve core (armature) to overcome the spring force and fluid pressure and move, opening or closing the valve port.
Fluid control:
Power on state: The valve core is attracted, the fluid channel is opened, and the medium passes through.
Power off state: Spring reset valve core, closing channel, cutting off medium flow.
Action form:
Normally closed (NC): It is turned off by default and turned on when powered on.
Normally open (NO): default on, turned off when powered on.

Valve core structure: plunger or diaphragm type, surface hardening treatment (such as nickel plating).
Sealing system:
Main sealing ring (nitrile rubber, fluororubber, polytetrafluoroethylene).
Guide ring (wear-resistant graphite or PEEK).
Spring and reset mechanism: stainless steel spring, corrosion-resistant design.

4、 Operation Guide
Installation requirements:
Install according to the flow arrow to avoid reverse compression.
Horizontal or vertical installation (refer to model specifications).
Electrical connection:
Voltage matching (commonly 24VDC, 220VAC), correct polarity (DC type).
Install surge protectors (to prevent voltage surges).
Start stop control:
Send pulse signals through PLC, relays, or manual switches.
Avoid prolonged continuous power on (to reduce coil temperature rise).
Debugging and testing:
No load on/off test, confirm that the action sound is clear and without any jamming.
Leakage rate during pressure testing (standard requirement ≤ 0.1 mL/min).
5、 Maintenance and upkeep
Daily maintenance:
Regularly clean the surface dirt of the valve body and check the tightness of the wiring terminals.
Action noise, abnormal noise may indicate valve core wear or impurity blockage.
Regular inspection:
Monthly: Check the elasticity of the sealing ring and replace it if it has aged or cracked.
Quarterly: Disassemble and clean the valve core and flow channel to remove particulate matter (especially mud media).
Fault handling:
Coil burnout: Check voltage stability and replace with a coil of the same specification.
Leakage: Replace the seal or grind the sealing surface of the valve seat.
Slow movement: Clean the valve core guide and lubricate with silicone grease (medium resistant).
Spare parts replacement cycle:
Sealing ring: 1-3 years (depending on the corrosiveness of the medium).
Valve core/spring: 3-5 years (shortened cycle for high-frequency use).
6、 Adapt to materials
Gas medium:
Compressed air, nitrogen, oxygen, gas, etc. (requiring explosion-proof certification).
Liquid medium:
Ordinary liquids: water, hydraulic oil, lubricating oil.
Corrosive liquids: acids (dilute sulfuric acid, hydrochloric acid), bases (NaOH solution), solvents (alcohol, acetone).
High viscosity fluids: oils, colloids (direct acting or pilot operated large-diameter valves should be selected).
Special working conditions:
High temperature steam: Use high-temperature resistant coils (H-grade insulation) and metal hard seals.
Food/pharmaceutical grade: valve body material 316L, sealing material FDA certified (such as EPDM).
Disable scenario:
Unfiltered media containing solid particles (requiring a pre filter).
Ultra low viscosity liquid that is prone to gasification (may cause cavitation).
7、 Selection suggestions
Media compatibility: Select valve body and sealing material based on chemical properties (such as PVDF resistant to strong acids).
Pressure matching: Working pressure ≤ 80% of rated pressure to ensure longevity.
Flow demand: Calculate the diameter based on Cv/Kv values to avoid excessive pressure drop caused by too small a value.
Environmental factors: Waterproof type is required for outdoor applications, and explosion-proof type (Ex d IIB T4) is selected for flammable environments.
ODE solenoid valve has become the core component of fluid automation control due to its high efficiency and reliability. Proper selection, standardized operation, and regular maintenance can significantly extend the service life (usually 5-10 years) and ensure stable system operation. It is recommended to consult the manufacturer for customized solutions under special working conditions.
