Installation and Usage
Selection of cables
1. The rated voltage U0/U (Um) of the cable is shown as follows: UO is the rated power frequency voltage between the conductors used in the cable design and the ground or metal shield, U is the rated power frequency voltage between the conductors used in the cable design, and Um is the maximum system voltage that the equipment can withstand.
2. Design and select the appropriate cable model and specifications based on the different laying environments and loads of the cables. Non armored type is suitable for overhead, indoor, tunnel, cable trench and other occasions, and cannot withstand mechanical external forces; Armored type can be directly buried underground under the same conditions as non armored type, and can withstand certain mechanical external forces. Single core cables are not allowed to be laid in pipelines that generate magnetism. Special types of cables should be selected for flammable, explosive, chemically corrosive, and high-temperature/low-temperature environments.
storage and transportation
During storage, cables should be packaged in a standardized manner to avoid long-term exposure to sunlight. Both ends should be reliably sealed, and long-term storage in damp environments is not allowed. The electrical panel should not be placed flat. When transporting, the height of the tray should be considered and effectively fixed. It is not allowed to lift several trays at the same time during lifting, and it is strictly prohibited to push them down from a high place.
Laying and installation
1. Special tools such as pay off racks and guide rollers should be used for cable laying to prevent mechanical damage and keep away from heat sources during the laying process.
2. When laying cables through conduits, the inner diameter of the conduit should not be less than 1.5 times the outer diameter of the cable. When multiple cables are threaded through conduits, twisting and squeezing of the cables is prohibited. The conduit should have sufficient capacity and the total area of the cables should not exceed 40% of the total area inside the conduit
3. The lowest temperature for cable laying shall not be lower than 0 ℃, and the bending radius shall not be less than 15 times.
4. When using the traction conductor clamp method for laying, the maximum allowable traction force is P=OA (N), A conductor cross-section O is 50N/mm (copper) and 30N/mm (aluminum).
Experiment:After installation, conduct insulation resistance test on the cable without load, and if necessary, perform AC power frequency withstand voltage test for 1 minute
Reasons for cable moisture
During the laying, installation, and operation of cross-linked polyethylene insulated power cables, moisture or water may enter the insulation of the cable, mainly in the following situations.
(1) The sealing of the cable end cap is not tight or the cable end cap is damaged by external forces during cable transportation and laying.
(2) The cable sheath is damaged by external forces during cable transportation or laying.
(3) During cable testing or operation, cable insulation breakdown damages the cable sheath.
(4) The sealing of cable accessories, especially the intermediate joints during direct burial, is not tight. Once moisture or water enters the cable insulation from the cable end or outer protective layer, it may penetrate longitudinally from the gaps of the copper wire shielding outside the insulation or from the gaps of the conductor, endangering the entire cable system. Under the action of high electric fields, cables that have been dampened will produce a "water tree branch" phenomenon, which will lead to a decrease in the insulation performance of cross-linked polyethylene and ultimately result in cable insulation breakdown. Therefore, cables that have been dampened must undergo moisture removal treatment.
