Snap ring reactor

A reactor is a device used to implement reaction processes, including single-phase liquid-phase reactions and multiphase reactions such as liquid-liquid, gas-liquid, liquid-solid, and gas-liquid solid reactions. Mainly refers to the operating temperature and pressure of the reactor. Temperature is a sensitive factor that affects the reaction process, and an appropriate operating temperature or temperature sequence must be selected to ensure that the reaction process proceeds under optimized conditions. For example, for reversible exothermic reactions, a temperature sequence from high to low should be adopted to balance reaction rate and equilibrium conversion rate (see chemical equilibrium).

The reactor can be operated under normal pressure, pressure, or negative pressure (vacuum). Pressure operated reactors are mainly used in reaction processes involving gas. Increasing the operating pressure is beneficial for accelerating gas-phase reactions. For gas-phase reversible reactions with reduced total moles, it can improve the equilibrium conversion rate, such as the synthesis of ammonia and methanol. Increasing the operating pressure can also increase the solubility of gases in liquids, so many gas-liquid phase reaction processes and gas-liquid solid-phase reaction processes use pressure operation to improve the reaction rate, such as xylene oxidation.
