FLOMEC, a brand under GPI Group in the United States, has been producing flow meters for over 40 years. The company produces elliptical gear flow metersturbine flow meterThe impeller flowmeter adopts processes and materials, and the product quality is very reliable and very economical and practical. FLOMEC series productsElliptical gear flowmeterMainly, with complete specifications, it can measure various media, materials and other indicators that can be selected to meet the different needs of users. Below, we will introduce how to choose an elliptical gear flowmeter:
Parameters that need to be known before selection:
● Traffic (and minimum)
● Measurement medium
● Medium viscosity
● Pressure
● Output requirements
● Process connection form and size
flow rate
The minimum flow rate of the measuring medium is an important parameter for selecting a suitable instrument. The selection of instrument specifications is based on 20% -80% of the flow rate. Excessive flow rate will reduce the service life of the rotor, while excessive flow rate will decrease accuracy. For example, if the flow rate is 115L/min and the measurement range of a 1 "caliber elliptical gear flowmeter is 10-120L/min, it is recommended to use a larger caliber elliptical gear flowmeter so that the flow rate will not be too close to the measurement range of the flowmeter.
measuring medium
Firstly, check the compatibility between the measuring medium and the material of the elliptical gear flowmeter. The body, rotor, bearings, and seals all need to be compatible. For example, most fuels and oils are compatible with the following configurations of flow meters: aluminum body, PPS rotor, and fluororubber seals. Taking solvents as an example, they are more suitable for stainless steel bodies, stainless steel rotors, and PTFE seals.
Measure the viscosity of the medium
One major advantage of elliptical gear flow meters is that they are not greatly affected by viscosity changes (unlike turbine flow meters, temperature changes can affect viscosity and even accuracy). If the viscosity range of the medium is between 3-1000cP, there is no need to consider its impact on the elliptical gear flowmeter. If the viscosity is less than 3cP, such as water (1cP), it is necessary to consider increasing the minimum flow rate to ensure the normal accuracy of the instrument. For example, if the specified flow range of a 1/2 'caliber flowmeter is 1-40L/min (medium viscosity 3-1000cP) as the standard, it is necessary to increase the flow rate by at least 10%, which is the applicable flow range of 4-40L/min. When the viscosity exceeds 1000 cP, the issue of instrument pressure drop needs to be considered. You can choose high viscosity rotor Keishi Cu, which can reduce pressure without affecting accuracy.
pressure
The pressure of the elliptical gear flowmeter must meet the pressure at the installation position. The pressure level is reflected on the nameplate or technical parameter table of the elliptical gear flowmeter, which is the static pressure at the temperature indicated on the flowmeter. The elliptical gear flowmeter is a very precise instrument, and overpressure can damage the rotor and affect accuracy.
How to collect data
How do you want to read data, directly from the dial, or through a remote device or PLC?
How do you want to record volume, mechanical register or electronic register?
FLOMEC elliptical gear flow meter has the following solutions:
Electronic:
RT40- Instantaneous flow and cumulative quantity with backlight display, sturdy casing, only pulse output
RT12- Instantaneous flow and cumulative display, with 4-20mA analog output, long battery life
BT11 Economy type, cumulative quantity display, with pulse output
EB10- Simple Batch Processing Controller with Two State Control and Automatic Batch Overflow Correction
mechanical:
M3 economical 4-digit mechanical register, suitable for OM015 and larger caliber flow meters
V1- Velvet type, 5-digit mechanical register, suitable for OM050 and larger caliber flow meters
What kind of process connection is needed
Ensure that the appropriate process connection is selected. Whether it is BSP, NPT, flange or sanitary clamp connection, it is important to match the pipeline interface at the installation location. Please note that some connections may affect the overall pressure rating of the instrument. For example, a flange connection of PN16 determines the pressure rating of this flow meter (16 bar pressure for 1 '-2' flow meters). We cannot follow the pressure rating of the flowmeter itself.
