Introduction to Infrared Moisture Analyzer
Date: 2022-05-12Read: 9

Infrared moisture analyzer, also known as moisture analyzer, rapid moisture analyzer, moisture meter, moisture detector, moisture measuring instrument, moisture analyzer, water meter, moisture tester.

Scope of application

It can be widely applied in all industries that require rapid determination of moisture, such as pharmaceuticals, plastics, metallurgy, mining, coal, building materials, chemicals, food, grain, feed, seeds, rapeseed, tea, agriculture and forestry, papermaking, rubber, textile and other industries in production and experimental processes.

classification

There are currently two main types of moisture meters available for sale in the market:

1. Chemical analysis method moisture analyzer, as the name suggests, is a method of chemical analysis where a substance undergoes a qualitative change, generating a new substance. This type of analyzer is mainly used for precise determination of trace amounts of moisture.

2. The physical analysis method moisture meter has a relatively simple structure and does not require complex experiments. It evaporates free moisture by heating to a certain temperature, which is fast and accurate. Although the accuracy is not as high as chemical analysis methods, it can currently reach one ten thousandth, or 1ppm.

In terms of usage, it can be divided into laboratory moisture meters and online moisture meters.

Laboratory moisture analyzer, mainly used for laboratory use.

Online moisture analyzer: mainly used for rapid determination of moisture, suitable for use when conveying materials on belts. If applied to industries such as coal, cotton, tobacco, grain, and feed.

Moisture analyzer for chemical analysis method

Mainly including Karl Fischer moisture analyzer, Coulomb moisture analyzer, dew point moisture analyzer.

The Karl Fischer method, also known as the trace moisture analyzer, is a classic method mainly used for detecting samples with low water content. After recent improvements, it has greatly improved accuracy and expanded the measurement range.

The dew point moisture analyzer is easy to operate, the instrument is not complicated, and the measured results are generally satisfactory. It is commonly used for the determination of trace moisture in sexual gases. But this method has more interference, and some easily cooled and exchanged gases, especially at high concentrations, may condense before water vapor, causing interference.

Coulomb moisture analyzer is commonly used to determine the moisture content in gases. This method is easy to operate, has a rapid response, and is particularly suitable for determining trace amounts of moisture in gases. If measured using general chemical methods, it is a very difficult task. However, the electrolysis method is not suitable for the determination of alkaline substances or conjugated dienes.

Moisture analyzer using physical analysis method

Mainly including microwave transmission technology, infrared moisture meter, halogen moisture meter, needle moisture meter, and induction moisture meter.

The microwave transmission water analyzer utilizes advanced microwave transmission water technology, which is highly sensitive to free water molecules and can detect the entire cross-section of the substance. Even if the water distribution is uneven, the measurement results are representative.

Infrared moisture meters and halogen moisture meters both use physical heating to remove free moisture and measure moisture through weight changes. They are commonly used in industries that do not require high accuracy, such as pharmaceuticals, plastics, chemicals, food, and grains. Compared to an oven, it has shorter testing time, is easier to use, has higher accuracy, and is much more efficient, usually only requiring a few minutes. The accuracy can reach one ten thousandth, which is quite accurate and can meet the requirements of the vast majority of moisture determination.

The needle type moisture meter uses the conductivity of the measured object to measure moisture content. The higher the moisture content, the higher the corresponding conductivity. By measuring the conductivity of the measured object, the moisture value can be determined.

Induction moisture meter is a type of microwave moisture meter. When the moisture content is high, the dielectric constant of the measured object is large, and the corresponding equivalent capacitance also increases. The moisture value can be measured by measuring the equivalent capacitance of the object being tested.
